I had a very disappointing lunch at this pub today. I ordered the lasagne and my request to substitute the garlic bread with a few chips was met with an uncompromising "NO" by the surly female member of staff. It was pointed out to me that the £5 menu stipulated garlic bread and could not be altered. I had no option other than to order a side order of chips, such a waste as I only wanted a few. With my lunch I ordered a pot of tea which arrived with cartons of long life milk, I very politely asked the female member of staff if it was possible for proper milk instead, which again was met with a firm "NO". She told me the kitchen did not have proper milk, I find that very hard to believe. The quality of the food was quite poor and not piping hot. Altogether a very disappointing experience, in particular with regards to an unacceptable attitude to customer service. This was completely the opposite of the last time I dined there. The last time, the food was lovely and the staff too. Very...
Read moreExcellent pub. Great service great choice great prices. Popped in last Saturday late afternoon for a couple of drinks after a long walk. The price of two pints was £5.30 cheaper than the Hurley Flyer along the road. I asked for a menu just out of curiosity and I explained to the lovely girl behind the bar I had coeliac disease (gutted I forgot to ask her name) and she was so so helpful and even took the time to sit with me and show me the allergies scan code and assured me they had a separate fryer and that any two meals from their menu was £12.49. for that price we didn't have high expectations but we both had the gammon and it was delicious. That girl gets the super star staff award from me I hope the owners recognise her. Great find we...
Read moreWent here today with the family. Nice pub with great little booths with individual TVs. Nice outdoor area with a TV and small play area for the kids. Pool table inside. Service was good. Only slight downfall was the large plate fish and chips, the fish was small and dry, the battered sausage not great, mushy peas seemed quite dry and no curry sauce which was advised but not discounted off the price and the tartar sauce advertised was just in the sauce caddy in a sachet. The burgers went down well with the boys though. The gents loo was in need of a scrub as well. Had to take my kids in and it wasn't very nice. Definitely worth a visit, maybe the large fish dish was having an off day but would expect better for the price...
