This McDonalds is the worst.
Since it got modernised/upgraded it has continually gone downhill. When it was closed for renovation, the opening hours online were never updated so I’m sure many people had wasted journeys there. There was no message on the phone to say it was closed for sometime or any idea of an expected re-opening date. Anyway, that was some time ago.
Get a drive-thru unless you want a long wait for your food. If you get a drive-thru, remember exactly what you’ve ordered and go through it at the collection window to make sure you haven’t missed anything. Tonight I would’ve left without a cookie, 2xcheese bites, 2xdips, an extra dip I’d ordered and paid for, drinks for the happy meals. In the end I left without drinks for the happy meal as I’d forgotten they don’t come in the box. I remembered to ask for straws but even that didn’t prompt the person serving me to remember the actual drinks! I realised halfway home so went back and braved going inside...
Which brings me to ordering inside. There are now automatic order points. Which is fine except you can’t order dips that you have to pay for from them. If the order point isn’t working or you want to order a dip you wait at the counter (old school). Except there’s never anybody serving. There’s no one you can catch the eye of coz they’re all in the kitchen making a mess of the drive thru orders. There’s usually somebody complaining about getting the wrong thing or having something missing and a queue of people waiting to collect their orders in the restaurant, looking hopefully up at the screen, expecting it to give them a clue as to when their food’s coming out. Except it’s never updated. 12 minutes is our recent record - from ordering to getting our food (and nothing out of the ordinary that would need making up specially either) and at no point did our order number appear on the board - as either being prepared or ready to collect. 10 minutes for two coffees on another occasion was particularly frustrating. I’m all for modernisation but I don’t see how ordering on a screen to wait 10 minutes for a coffee while it’s made up in the back and waits behind a bunch of food orders until someone can be bothered to bring it out and have to face the collection area full of annoyed customers is an improvement on ordering at a till and waiting while it’s made up. The system in Leeds train station and lots of European McDonald’s where drink and McCafé items are done in front of you is a million miles better than whatever system Oakwood is trying to operate.
The number of cheese bites in a portion is completely arbitrary - we’ve had most numbers between 4 and 10. The first time I asked a member of staff how many cheese bites you get in a portion I was told ‘dunno, about 4’.
In summary, stick to drive thrus if you want fast food, careful as you drive out because, after the refurb, if you want to exit without doing a lap round the building you’ll have to drive over a curb to get out on the Oakwood lane exit which you’re not supposed to do but everyone does which makes it pretty unsafe. Don’t get your hopes up about getting what you’ve ordered either unless you’ve run through it with the person at the collection window,...
Read moreI was postponing this complaint but I reached the point to let you know how poor this branch perform.
It seems they are absolutely incapable of getting simple order correctly prepared, disorganised, slow and to close the topic unpolite with I don't care attitude.
My today's experience...
Sunny day, semi busy as you can imagine on Sunday afternoon. Simple order on self service for family of 4 (2adults 2 kids).
Waiting time from payment to order received 17 minutes. Order to take away served on the tray. With attitude chucked into the back with complete silence! Just "who's next?!" at the end of this service
Happy meal-ordered toy got a book Nuggets box- ordered 4 dips received ZERO/ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Double Quarter Pounder with cheese- recipes single burger Double cheese burgers looked like some sat on it to keep it worm! Frise cold with every single meal. I found out as soon as I got home and I was angry and disappointed in the same time, it's not 1st time this happened but this time it was the last time!
While I was waiting out of boredom I counted how many uber eat or other delivery drivers walked in after me and left or were served while I waited....I stopped counting on 18 bags out, while walk in customers waiting and waiting. Drive through on previous visit was similar experience, I said to my self I park and walk in next time. Now I know it makes no difference, you just suck!
FAST FOOD!? YOU MUST BE KIDDING YOURSELF. Today's visit was my last if I could give 0...
Read moreI ordered online via the app, the order went through and payment was taken. However when I arrived at the drive thru to collect it they'd blocked it off with cones. No bother, I went into the restaurant to collect instead. I waited at the counter for a min then a very stressed looking gentleman came to the till and, said "how did you get in here?!" I'm, through the door?! He then said well you shouldn't have been able to get in. We're closed. I then asked how he was closed when there was a.sign next to him saying open 24 hours and the app had taken payment for me order. He told me they were closed as they were having work done, and that he'd have to refund the payment back to my card. By this time several other customers (including a deliveroo driver who had to explain to his customer that they weren't getting the food they'd ordered and paid for) had arrived. He refunded the money to my visa, I asked roughly how long it would take to go back in to my account. He pretty much said "I don't know, it will go back on your card at some point that's all I can tell you. They have no issue with updating the app to make mcflurrys unavailable after a certain time every night, so surely they have the capacity the to make the whole menu unavailable on the app when they're not serving any...
