Quite bizarre. My mother and i went here, i got a drink, she wanted a scone and coffee. She asked "do you have a plain scone" and the very naive and inexperienced teen on the till said "no we've only got fruit". Now, if you're asking for something, you'd presume that's what someone wants. Not this silly young woman. The tea room worker gone and got a saucer, a portion of butter and plonked a fruit scone on my mum's tray along with a coffee. Because when ordering 1 or 2 things and multiple staff members are clanking around prepping this preppjng that, you don't realise what's happening at anyone time and it wasn't the busiest but it was busy enough when in full flow my mum didn't feel she could reject it as its something she didnt ask for. It's kind of like if you went to buy a product and asked for a certain type, it wasn't in stock so you were booked another type of the worker's and not your choice without warning or your knowledge, you just wouldn't do it. I wasn't aware of this and my mum said "i don't really want" this to me before we were due to pay. I said "reject it then". She didnt want to cause a scene but my mum had to pay for something she didn't want because of a girl yet to be clued up on the way adults conduct themselves and social norms yet it was that person on the tills being front of house at the tea room. I'd have someone better...... The scone my mum didn't want was crap and my mum has allsorts of scones at loads of different places, she couldn't manage to eat the whole lot it tasted that bad. I've never seen...
Read moreThis place could be an amazing spot if they offered a better range of products, proper coffee, with a drinks menu behind the counter and some specials. Take the burger, the beef one is really thick but with a few bits of greenery and a slice of tomato, a few wedges for a tenner, it’s overpriced and missing the mark. If you’re going to promote using local, then tell the story incorporating this into your menu. For example, homemade beef burgers made using xyz beef from abc farm. Vegetable soup made from local potatoes and carrots, etc etc. The ice cream signs mentioned it being made so many miles away, but that’s them selling their brand. For the price you pay, it really needs more effort into producing a more thoughtful offering, I think this would then justify charging the prices you pay. I loved the dog room, as it wasn’t a day to be sat outside, a definite hit for those out walking their dogs around TN. I think if next time I go it’s still the same, then I’ll bring my own drinks and food, not worth the money it charges got the...
Read moreI don’t really know how this cafe has ended up with such poor reviews it nearly put us off going in there ! So we went Saturday lunch time it was very busy inside and out most of the tables were full and the queue was right down the cafe, we ordered our food, our drinks were made straight away and within 10 minutes of sitting down our food arrived, it was hot tasty and a very good portion size and believe me I am fussy and particular about paying for food ! The staff were extremely pleasant and one lady chatted to us for quite some time, lots of smiles and happy to help. There were 4 of us 3 adults and a 9month old and for all of us to have a main meal a hot drink and a biscuit and it came to £40, we were happy to pay this as the little farm is so cheap to get in and absolutely excellent ! It’d be a shame for the prices to be raised for the farm as it would exclude people that can’t afford a family day out, so the cafe being a little pricier is fair enough I think. Keep up the...
