Travellers Rest — Restaurant in Leeds

This is a fantastic pub and the added bonus of the Wednesday quiz makes it even better. The bar staff are so helpful and will do their best to answer any questions you have. The beer is perfectly kept and they have a nice selection of them to cater for every taste. The Christmas decorations are nice and subdued which is better than most places where they are rammed down your throat. You also don't have to peel your children, handbags etc off the tables like you do in some other places. Also the glasses seem to be devoid of second hand lipstick and also the correct beer served in the perfect glass so pints of Guinness in a Stella chalice or a pint of bitter in a tea cup. If you get chance I would go on a Wednesday as the pub quiz / bingo / play your cards right is a fun night and not the horrible competitive slanging match that I have been to be for. The quiz master is funny and interesting and makes sure a great time is had by all and I hope to go to plenty more quiz nights. Just called at the Travelers rest for the last time, tribute act on took me 10 mins to get served although I was the only person at the bar my wife's legs are bandaged from knee to toes so she finds it dificult to walk very far. We sat at an empty table for about 10 mins when one of the staff came and told us it was a private function and we would have to move immediately and as there were no other seats we would have to go outside in the blistering heat .my reaction was we will drink our drinks and leave ,her reaction was no you'll have to go outside now so I said I'll drink my drink and then I'll f+++k off We were then accused of being aggressive by the staff member who insisted we went outside with our drinks ,we were then approached by another person who I presumed to be the manageress who accused me again of being aggressive and swearing at the staff so I repeated I'll drink my drink and leave I asked for the Area managers name and was told to contact Green King which I intend to do .Asa footnote I have recently retired having spent fourty years in the licence trade the last five working...

This pub has been a favourite of mine for many years, I have lived in the area for 20+ years and always feel I can drop in and see a friendly face. The staff are welcoming and the service is good, don't get me wrong, mistakes can be made but are always dealt with and quickly rectified. Weekly Wednesday quiz night has to be a favourite, quizmaster Jamie is witty and friendly and makes the quiz a fun. If you've not done it yet then get it on your "to do" list, especially during these cold winter months when all you have left to watch on TV are, "the Soaps" 🥱🥱 Overall it's a lovely place to visit, be it for drinks, food, footy (screens inside and out), sitting inside, outside or in the covered outside area. They also have good tribute events although I've not had chance to attend one yet but I am told by friends that they have been brilliant events.
