Astonishing the lack of manners from one particular waiter. Just very rude and not welcoming at all, for no reasons. We tried to get a table for a group of 5, and when we sat down we got told we couldn't sit as the table was just for 4 ppl apparently....he just left us there, standing without saying anything else or trying to find a solution or just saying to wait for a bigger table..nothing. also, when we tried to look around for a bigger table he looked quite bothered, and definitely not willing to help. We then decided to leave. That's a shame for whoever owns that place, as your gonna end up with this kind of reviews just because one member of your staff couldn't be bothered to do his job, and actually just behave like a normal person with basic social skills....

Stunning and charming little cafe by day, wine/cocktail bar by night. (Friday and Saturday for the bar).

By far one of the best places in lewes, if not East Sussex.

• The decor is brimming with authentic French antiques for the family owned antiques business next to it. • The food is amazing, headed by Pete the chef who has clearly knows his stuff • The wine is sensational. Try the Magneric if you don't mind spending a little extra, just leave some for me! • Relaxed and happy atmosphere. It's hard to be annoyed at anything when surrounded by such beauty.

There's also a huge courtyard which is so good from spring to autumn, when a rather large fire pit comes out to warm up the pstrons.

10/10...

Oh dear. Was served burnt-edged toast which was like hard crackers. Wife couldn't eat it but I was hungry and did, quite willing to pay for it. When I mentioned it to the server when he asked if everything was OK, it was merely a comment and not a complaint. He kindly said that the toast would be 'on the house', which I wasn't expecting. When I came to pay, I told the cashier that the toast was 'on the house' but the cook nearby made a snidey remark "But you ate it anyway". We both felt aggrieved at this and explained that it was the server's suggestion and not ours. Sufficient to say it spoilt our visit and won't...

We had a delicious brunch time snack at the cafe du jardin. The entrance way is unassuming but don't let that fool you, this rustic restaurant serves delicious bites and thirst quenching drinks in a relaxed and informal French cafe style both outdoor and indoor tables and believe me this place gets busy. Our server, Albie was an absolute gem, he worked hard to ensure no one was waiting, very attentive and capable. As you can see from my photos the food is excellent. However I wished I had ordered one of the tasting plates as they look fantastic.

Cute café with an outdoor courtyard next to an Antiques shop. Went there for coffee and cake but the lunch menu items looked yummy. The lemon meringue cake was delicious as was the orange and ginger cake. There are large parasols in the courtyard to provide shelter. The outdoor seats had cushions on them so they were comfortable to sit on. Service was pleasant.
