Visited gardens on Sunday 2nd June. So disappointed!!!! I can forgive the 'No mow May' overgrown grass but the formal flower beds were disgraceful. What were once beautiful backdrops for wedding photos was a poor example of bedding plants gone to seed, dried stems of long dead bulbs and weedy bare earth. I looked into the walled parterre garden. OMG! The box hedge boarders were dead dessicated shrivelled shrubs! Weeds instead of seasonal floral displays. Heartbreaking! I have known these gardens for years and knew some of the garden team who worked hard to create lovely floral displays that our county town could be proud of. Not now. Read moreProtected by small walls, this is a peaceful spot next to Lewes station to have a book with you or make a little picnic on the grass. Different areas with different vegetation, beautiful Tulips and Pampas grass, tall trees with good shade and super friendly squirrels coming down from them to get attention to food if you offer.

Wonderfully kept, clean, plant names on most and trees abelled too. A wonderful art shop accessible rom the park, free to enter and wonderful products.
