From today I shall be boycotting this entire franchise. I have enjoyed observing the creation of this new store, watching the manager and his team build up business from scratch. I've become a daily customer, choosing to work from the store instead of my home office for part of the day.
The hard work of the manager has seen this store create and cultivate a welcoming atmosphere that many Costa stores lack. The team's efforts were paying off. From my daily visits (sometimes twice daily), I've seen more and more regular customers - the staff learning names and food/beverage choices as well as little titbits of personal information so that exemplar customer service is facilitated. I've watched them work as a team with smiles on their faces in an ever spotless store, introducing customers to new products, making recommendations, steadily growing the business and I, amongst others, have been spreading the word, encouraging locals to give it a whirl.
However, witnessing the area manager raising her voice and insulting the store manager in front of customers today has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I can't bring myself to enter the store again. As a customer, I shouldn't have been forced to witness such an unprofessional display from the franchise area manager (I know who she is from when she used to stand smoking right in front of the store before it opened/when it first opened - not a good look, if I'm honest, and I'd have avoided the store if she'd kept that up). She was practically screaming at him and he was understandably mortified - as was I along with other customers. I'm shocked and, after realising just how poorly staff are treated, I'm no longer willing to give this franchise my custom. Such a shame. This store, and its fabulous team, were the best thing to happen to this part of Burntwood in a long time. Seeing what goes on in front of customers makes me wonder what happens behind closed doors. No wonder Costa has such a high...

Read morefrightening experience, I used this branch for the first time Saturday 22nd January. There was a customer at the counter with 2 pit bull type dogs one of which stared to strain at the leash and rear up at me and bare its teeth, I was terrified and went to the side of the counter, on the way out the same dog lunged at my partner, the owner had difficulty holding back the dog and opening the door with coffee in hand. Staff said he comes in every day with the dogs and they have never behaved like that before. I did nothing to alert the dogs I just walked in as a normal customer, I will not go there again. Staff did nothing about it and allowed this frightening experience to happen. What if the dog did...
