We had a table booked for our Christmas day 2022 meal here for 2.30, we were early and due to being unable to seat us anywhere inside we were directed to the pub across the road, The Railway. We had a drink at the cosy Railway and walked over to The Plough at 2.30 fully expecting our table to be ready. What a disappointment we were faced with a bare table no tablecloth, no glasses, some thrown on crackers and our cutlery placed on top of a serviette. There was no Christmas atmosphere no festive table ware, just a flung together table that was being pushed together whilst we waited. Our meal started being served at 3.00. The amuse bouche and starters were bearable although the pork was salty. The main meals were atrocious, potatoes hard and inedible, stuffing which was like chewing on a rubber and slices of thinly cut turkey, a basic variety of vegetables which were served in separate bowls. This Christmas Fayre meal had been served probably daily since November so you would assume that you would receive a decent meal. However, everything about this Christmas meal was very very mediocre for a price of 125.00 each which it definitely didn't warrant. We paid our bill and left and I was in total disbelief that we had actually paid for something that we should have queried but with it being Christmas day you try to make allowances. I would never go here again and would definataly keep clear of it for any special occasions if this is all they could provide for a...
Read moreRubbish brunch. Very slow getting to us, despite being virtually empty (nearly an hour). Complained and toast appeared, still a good 15 no Utes before full English, which came only after we complained again.
My fiance had poached eggs, which he cut into and they were still raw, clear white gloopy now covering his inedible breakfast. We spoke with the manager who apologies an took it away. I had to eat mine without my partner (I should point out this was fathers day and i had booked this as a surprise for him, from our 2 week old baby). The manager apologies and said the egg had been left to a lower member of kitchen staff and the head chef was furious and would be doing it himself this time.
New breakfast took another good 10 minutes to appear. Toast had been eaten and coffee and juice drunk way before either breakfast appeared.
I would say that this was a bad day, but we have several relatives in Shenstone who tell us that this establishment is poor on a regular basis.
Book early and go to Packington...
Read moreFirst time visit to The Plough for a drink and meal. Drinks arrived still in unopened bottles, I poured my orange juice into the glass which was three quarters full of ice leaving the remainder in the bottle, within a couple of minutes the bottle was taken off the table so I said to the waitess that I hadn't finished with it, she didn't hear me as she was already walking off. When she came back I mentioned that I still had drink left in the bottle that she took, her response was "it was empty" . Im not the tyoe to make a scene so didnt continue the convrsation due to the curt response. The waitress then offered to get the bottle, we joked that she would deliberatly come back with an empty bottle and she didn't disapoint We paid for the drinks immediately and left. All in all a very bad experience and service was dreadful. Would not...
