On arrival we were made to sit in the bar area and wait 15 minutes for a table . One of our guest had a severe Tomato allergy and was not asked once on arrival if we had any allergies or dietary requirements. Being an Assistant Manager of a restaurant myself I know how important this is with how unsafe allergies can be .
I would like you to take this serious as my bestfriend could have died and your team at the Damon Lincoln did not once ask as I previously said .She asked for no tomato’s but yet when the food arrived there was a tomato on her plate which again here partner had to remove for her due to the severe allergies.
Onto food arriving we ordered 4 lots of toast , 2 standard breakfast , 1 sausage & egg with toast and one mini breakfast with not tomatos. We got 2 standard breakfast , one large breakfast and a mini breakfast with tomato ( after requesting with no tomatoes ) When we finally got our breakfast after waiting 25 minutes for it to arrive we then had to wait a further 40 minutes for a toast and cold drinks to arrive , this was after asking the team in your Lincoln restaurant 4 times where our toast and juices was . We looked around the restaurant to see that other tables were all having their toast and cold drinks delivered before their breakfast whilst we continued to wait and had to ask for a further 5th time ! I found this very unorganised and shouldn’t have to ask 5 times for something in a restaurant as you would only have to ask once in my restaurant and would have the guest needs seen to straight away !
The breakfast when arriving was stone cold , the scrambled eggs on 2 of our breakfast we’re like rubber , the fried eggs where freezing , the bacon was like concrete, beans where cold and the sausage was actually okay surprisingly.
Overall the restaurant lets the hotel down massively and seriously needs to be looked at and team require further training on allergies and basic service skills as the wait time...
Read moreThis place is very different to any restaurant not in the sense of food but the vibe, atmosphere and staff. In a weird but good way - I think🤔
We parked up and saw a man in a suit kicking a can away from the entrance area so it was off the premises. He looked almost like secret service staff with sunglasses 😎 on. He was very helpful and welcomed us and opened the door for us. We never saw him again on our exit, so who was he? We will never know.
Staff were super friendly, it felt like an Italian mob run establishment in the USA which was very different but the USA theme was working.
It was a very popular venue and became busy quite quickly. However there was more than enough staff. There were a male staff member whom seemed to belittle some female staff and was constantly following what appeared to be the manager around. This is one of reasons I deducted a star because It was just plain wrong. There is a good team of staff or appears to be and a good team needs everyone to work together not one person feeling superior because he is male.
The lady whom served us was really nice, we ordered from the early diner menu (2 courses £15). Downfall was no drinks price lists (only a price list for cocktails). If you have a family the ability to check prices is a must I would say.
The food was very fresh. My son had the chicken tenders I expected to see 3 x chicken dippers hut I was wrong, they were fresh from proper chicken breast. The small side salad I had was probably the freshest salad I had been served for many years.
On way out we saw the hotel room rates (from £47 night) and you get 20% off food if you stay at the hotel, so may stay when visiting our daughter in Lincoln. We would and...

Upon arrival a nice friendly staff member greeted us and sat us down and asked us to look at the menu and someone would take our order soon after.
20 mins passed, no signs of any staff members, no-one returned. I stopped someone on the way passed and asked if I needed to go up to order, they stated they would send someone straight over.
Another 10 mins passed, still no signs of any staff member coming for our order so I approached a really nice guy who's clearly been there a long time and who evidently wasn't impressed!!
He took our order, gave us a free onion loaf and went above and beyond, clearly raging at the lack of motivation and customer service from some of his colleagues.
Let me add there was probably half a dozen tables with people at them and more than one member of staff per table easily..... it appeared most of the "younger ones" simply liked standing around chatting near the kiosk at the entrance and wandering around fairly aimlessly.
The food arrived soon after and was "alright", I've had much better at cheaper places and since when is it acceptable to sell a small plastic bottle of Highland spring water for £3.20....... I would have expected either a glass bottle or similar in a place like this.
Very average at best, I certainly won't bother going back, American Diners serve much better food...... failing that Hickorys is 10 times the place of Damons...
