The Telford Inn is a real gem of a pub, set in one of the most charming and picturesque locations you could ask for. Situated right beside the canal, with barges gently passing by, it offers a truly idyllic setting that makes it stand out from the moment you arrive. Whether you’re sitting inside enjoying the cosy atmosphere or relaxing outdoors watching the water, the surroundings make it the perfect place to unwind.
What really makes The Telford Inn special, though, is its warm and welcoming feel. The atmosphere inside is homely and inviting, with a traditional charm that immediately puts you at ease. It’s the kind of pub where you can enjoy a quiet drink, a hearty meal, or simply soak up the relaxed environment with friends and family.
The food is another highlight. Everything feels lovingly prepared, with a menu full of delicious home-cooked dishes that are both comforting and full of flavour. From pub classics to hearty specials, each meal is satisfying and clearly made with care. Portions are generous, the quality is excellent, and it all pairs beautifully with the pub’s great selection of drinks.
Altogether, The Telford Inn offers a winning combination of beautiful canal-side views, excellent food, and a warm, friendly atmosphere. A true favourite for locals and...
Read moreWe arrived here for lunch at the start of our week cruising on a narrowboat as it is right at the AngloWelsh narrowboat marina, making it a perfect meeting point. It was also a popular place for lunch with people who had walked from Llangollen across the Pontcyssyltte aqueduct. Despite its perfect positioning, and apparent popularity, it doesn't feel welcoming as soon as you walk in, with a central bar surrounded on four sides by areas to sit or drink. We watched many people come in and do a double take - with some choosing to walk straight out again. Sadly there was a slight smell of cooking oil throughout the place as well. Despite that however, I was really pleased that we came here. The service team were very friendly and helpful and didn't rush us to make a choice as we waited for our friends. The food was lovely - I had the steak pie which was great, crusty pastry and very tasty. Other members of the group had gammon and egg or the sandwiches. There were some nice ales on tap as well. It's not a cheap place and needs a little bit of TLC in terms of appearance hence my 3 star rating. But if you want somewhere handy for the boats, then I would definitely...
Read moreMy friends & I had our evening meal here last August, the holiday season. What a fabulous location! But unfortunately the owners must feel they have a captive audience and do not have to try. It was busy but there was only one waitress/manager on duty. She did everything! There were other members of staff but they were not allowed to take orders or serve behind the bar. Worst of all was the menu - deep fried everything. So we went for the house special - Shepherds pie with Welsh lamb. A thin layer of minced lamb had been put on the plate and then covered with mashed potatoes! Wait for it, it gets worse. The dishes of Shepherds pie must have been prepared earlier & then put under the grill to warm them up! It was the colour of dish water. Next to us was a table of Scandinavians. They were so disgusted they ate hardly anything and voted with their feet. We were ashamed to be British. Telford attracts visitors from all over the world and this is not the kind of food we should be offering them. Hopefully our foreign friends had better experiences else where and did not go home complaining about the...
