My partner and I stayed here for a wedding we were attending in Tower Hill Barn just up the road so it was very conveniently located for that venue. The Tea Rooms have ample secure parking which was a good start and a sperate back entrance for the rooms so we didnt need to go through the tea room & could also return late withour bothering anybody.
The rooms are very nicely done, spacious and with keeping in tradition with the building. Good quality carpet, doors, fixtures and fitting and beatiful bedding, very soft :). The TV also had netflix which was great ha. The full length mirror appreciated by my gf.
The room and bathroom were spotless. The only suggestion I would have is that maybe a shower holder put up above the bath (as the shower is in cradle over the bath you have to physically hold it but to be honest it was nice to have a bath). As there is no window in the bathroom and the window doesnt open in the room I think a fan is needed. There is adjustable A/C in room but I felt a little hot and would have appreciated some ventilation or air-flow, a simple and cheap fan I think would solve easy peezy :)
Lastly breakfast was spot-on. The Tea room is very cute with a lot of history, heart and soul and the girls working there are a bunch of honest, bubbly and real people who are a credit to the place. I paid for breakfast with my booking but noticed the prices were extremely good value so as a local will be using for tea and cakes when the sun is back out for sure as the location is slap-bang on the aqueduct so I'll be able to take my mum who doesnt walk so well.
nice job all, Chwarae...
Read moreThis is a nice conversion of a Welsh Chapel, they've kept a lot of the character of the building, the panelling and support pillars and the massive windows which allows the sunlight to stream in, as a result the building is light and airy.
There is a reasonable sized carpark adjacent to the building, which is free of charge to users of the cafe.
An access ramp for those with restricted mobility leads up to the main door. (Edit- as per the owners comment below there is a side door that can be accessed by people using wheelchairs
Staff are always pleasant and take your order at the counter and then bring it to your table when ready.
The premises opens at 10 am and usually there is a quick turnover of customers.
I've never had a problem with them accommodating me with a table and I usually just walk in. However it can fill up quickly during the peak tourist season. It may be worth pre-booking a table, particularly if you are a large party.
Prices are reasonable and they do serve alcohol. They also have a good selection of cakes.
Definitely worth a visit and well...
Read moreOccasionally, one finds a gem (2024 translation of occasionally, meaning very seldom), the Pontcysyllte Chapel Tea Room is such a gem. The young staff's service is exceptional, happy, bright, intelligent, and helpful, faultless. The offerings match the service, as does the seating. Only nine months into the year, and I find a precious rarity. A vanishingly optimistic as it surely is, there is still time for more.
Update June 2025: I discovered that they have Rooms, we just spent a night in Room 1, and it was outstanding. Located as the Tea Room is right next door to the World Heritage Site, that is The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, the room could not be in a better location. The room was immaculately clean, the service was exceptional, and the whole experience was outstanding.
There are only 4 rooms to book at the Tea Room. My advice, if you have the chance to visit Pontcysyllte and need an overnight stay, is do not delay, get booked, you will not find anywhere nearer to the Aqueduct or half as good as The Tea...
