I would de-star Bengal Bertie's via this review if I could. I was a customer of this branch for about 6 years but had only ever eaten at the restaurant during dinner hours. Several weeks ago I decided for the first time to try and order for a delivered takeaway for lunch but was not aware they didn't do a lunch service. Their website accepted the order without indicating this until the order went through and payment had been taken.
Once I realised this I immediately sent an email and left a voicemail to request that my order be cancelled and refunded. For several days and weeks following this, I was met with the WORST customer service ever in my life where the restaurant claimed they authorised a refund to me but when I kept informing them I was yet to receive anything, they were not helpful in trying to investigate or provide any further assistance. At one point I was having to put a call through to them once every other day to try to speak to the Manager who was also not helpful and never bothered calling me back when he said he would.
After about 3 weeks of this I finally gave up and went via PayPal (who transacted the order) and submitted a case. Even at this point, BB's ignored me and eventually I was left with no choice but to escalate to PayPal. Luckily, PayPal has agreed to help issue me a refund but I just want to warn everyone of the TERRIBLE service and to avoid making the mistake I did.

Read moreI ordered from this restaurant tonight via Uber eats after previously having takeaway from here multiple times. After waiting over a hour for my food I decided to call bengal Bertie’s to get a update on my food.
I explained to the extremely unpleasant man who answered the phone that there is no tracking on this order so I just want to check if the order has left. The man on the phone proceeded to shout at me and ask me why I’m asking ‘stupid questions’ and went on to say if I ask ‘stupid questions’ he will give me ‘stupid answer’.
After I asked him why he is shouting and being rude. He continued to shout and tell me my food left 20 minutes ago and that it’s due to ‘weather conditions’. I live 5-10minutes away and the main roads are clear. After waiting patiently I called back for a update and he continues to raise his voice. After that I received a notification saying my order had been ‘cancelled’.
After calling back bengal Bertie’s to find out what is going on, I was told that ‘there are loads of other customers who cannot wait for their orders’ that’s why mine has been cancelled. Read moreAfter being a customer of the Bengal Berties on Archway Rd for years until it changed ownership & the handsome interior was ripped out, so it was a delight to discover this branch in Palmers Green. I was not disappointed, being greeted by a similar handsome interior, long dark wooden polished wooden flooring with tables set either side draped in pristine white table linen set in alcoves where the ceiling is elegantly shaped as though in India, being theatrical but practical, absorbing intrusive sounds, creating an intimate restaurant. The service was polite & attentive, the meal arriving after a short wait on a trolley presented neatly. The food didn't disappoint, popadums crisp, tasty & oil free; my girlfriends biryani did the trick, disappearing by the end of the evening, whilst the chicken tandoori in it's thick red sauce I ordered was tasty with just the right amount of kick on a bed of perfectly cooked white rice.
