Rimini Restaurant — Restaurant in London

WILL NOT BE GOING BACK AND WILL ADVICE ALL NOT TO GO HERE!!! Food was ok, not great like they used to be. But the service was SOOO poor. I was amazed when I left how bad it was! It was a weekday evening, so it really wasn't bust like they can get on the weekends or Fridays. They messed up the booking and tried to stick us next to the toilets for being late, which I rang and they told me it will not be an issue at all, as it is a weekday. When we asked to move, we were told we were late and they don't have other tables, which clearly was a lie as when I pointed to a table they told me this should be ok!! It took a long time for them to come and take drinks and starters order. We then ordered another side dish after the starters, which we waited for over 20/30 mins and nothing turned up and when we asked when it would arrive, they told us that we hadn't ordered it!!! With the mains, had asked for garlic in a pizza, which when it came, clearly there was none there!! I told the waitress and made them aware that I did not want to be charged for this. The lady that took the order turned up and speaking REALLY loudly, (may as well have been shouting), told me that she had asked for it and said that the chef has put it. I stated no as I cannot taste it at all, which I got told it was due to my taste buds?!?! She then came back and said she has spoken to the chef and he has confirmed that he has definitely put it, again I stated I cannot taste it, so I don't think he has. She stated that she cannot accuse him as he has told her he has put it. Sonja stated then you are calling me a lier. No response. Then the chef came out to have his say. We have visited Rimini before so know the restaurant well. We booked by telephone a birthday celebration meal for 5 plus a highchair & very specifically requested a table on the right side of the restaurant as you enter. The person who took the booking suggested a window table, which would have been fine had it been on the side of the restaurant we requested. However when we arrived we were given a table to the left of the restaurant as you enter. This side of the restaurant is small, very bright & lacks atmosphere as it has a very different vibe to the larger, main part of the restaurant. We were so disappointed. The waitress was friendly when I suggested a different table but could only offer an alternative table near the loo. She did adjust the lighting a little but it made no difference to how it felt, being next to the entrance in a fairly sad spot within the restaurant,hence the 2 star rating for atmosphere. I would strongly suggest to future diners that if you are having a special meal & are concerned about where you sit, you make a point of going in to book the table you want in order to avoid any confusion. We did not feel that we had gone out for a special dinner, it felt as though we were in a cafe, purely because of where we were sitting by the entrance. Such a shame. The service was fine, although we were never asked if our food was ok by either waitress/waiter. My lasagne was acceptable but rather stodgy (I couldn't eat it all so shared). I had the calamari and the batter tasted old and when i told them about it . They took it away and didnt say if they where going to bring another so i was left waiting and wondering what was going on. Then when my main came it was cold!! I sent it back and when i got it back for the second some bits where hot and some bits where cold , so I sent it back again! 3rd time it was boiling hot swimming in tomatoes and the pasta had been so over heated it was chewy!! i had to complain again and then the manager came over and started questioning me about why I thought this and just wouldn't except my amswer!! then he just walked off. As i left i asked him why he did this and I said I felt like he was arguing with me. As he kept saying to me he didnt understand why i complained and that he saw the cook put it in a pan!!He didnt except what I was saying and didnt even apologise he said well I didnt let you pay. I had then said yes because I said I wont pay as it was send back 2 times. I only had two bites and felt ill after.It was really disappointing as i have been here before and it was good. The staff didnt even understand what my friend wanted for her salad she was missing olives and when she asked the waitress for olive oil she was given chilli sauce. An apologie would have been nice not an argument. I felt upset when i left and very hungry really ruined my night. Rude is all I can say.
