Ceylins Restaurant — Restaurant in London

I attended this restaurant as of yesterday 20th of December with a party of 11 along with another set of friends a further number of 15 or so to have our Christmas party and reunion and was totally disappointed with our food. The starter I chose was king prawns in a tomato sauce of some kind and when it finally arrived, I was dismayed with the portion size of the king prawn which shrivelled to what looked like shrimps. When I pointed this out to the manager he proceeded to show me from the kitchen a bag of frozen King prawns to justify that it was and instead of normally giving 5 he gave 8 for 7.50 . My cousin ordered vegetables soup and one would have thought hers would be the first to arrive when it was the last and given to her in a small bowl luke warm which had to be reheated in a microwave which tasted like a CAN soup and not made from the kitchen. The calamari over cooked and rubbery and the platter for two was a lot to be desired especially the spare ribs burnt far to much chicken over cooked and one piece of Lamb kebab to share for 2.The salad was of a slimy appearance and didn't taste fresh. Apple pie given to another guest was soggy and not freshly made but a shop brought cheap brand purchased instead. Pinacolada sickly sweet and no alcohol to taste when it sat still it started to curdle I couldn't drink it despite given on the house. The atmosphere we believed was on point because we requested to have the karaoke lady to come on the Wednesday instead of her normal night Thursday because some of us went the month before and my first time we did have a phenomenal night hence why we booked to go back for our Xmas party. At the end of the night the karaoke singer was told by the manager who is Turkish to not come back because she sang to loud as two white customers refused on staying because they felt it was too noisy and apparently she was told about this before and tried to sack her right in front of our eyes as paying customers. The majority of the customers who happened to be black plus the singer was totally shocked with the way she was unfairly treated and kicked up a fuss in support of her especially with the bad management behaviour. I will never go back or recommend anyone else...

I would like to apologise to people who have experienced what they consider to have received a bad or poor service I will be looking into this as this is not normal and this is generally confirmed by other reviews left on. Here and also other review sites and will be taking steps to correct this whilst I would also like to add staffing levels are low and we are looking and have been looking at this and trying to employ more waiting staff hopefully this will improve soon as we also have a couple of part time staff off to sit the final exams which as a business we obviously I support. Now to a more serious comment about seeing a mouse in the restaurant please be assured all hygiene measure are in place and the restaurant is checked by a licensed pest control company monthly and have never found any evidence of rodents but as a measure I have asked them to increase the amount of devices in the restaurant and the visit to check have now been changed to weekly we have just had an inspection from FSA (food standard agency) environmental health who also found no evidence of anything relating to pest control and awarded us a 5 hygiene rating as well take all aspect of hygiene very seriously and I would point out we are the only restaurant take away in area to have a 5 rating Again I would like to apologise to any person who has received or appears to have received anything less than a high standard of service from our restaurant I will look into this as well but we have recently changed owners it has been a bit of a challenge in the transition and the fact we gave some staff time off to sit their final exams and yes as I said it has been a challenge finding new staff but we are doing our best and any customers that know me know I am a man of my word all the issues raised are and will be dealt with thank you for your time John...

Surprisingly active place. I stopped by after work for a mocktail and food. Sat outside in the sun. I usually find Pollards Hill around the shop to have gangs or groups of kids loitering, being not so quiet when dealing and occupying the outside space. So either I was lucky that they managed to get rid of them. Just one street drinking drunk guy hanging outside the shops towards the end... but that sadly nothing unusual in London.

I got there around 6 pm. Ordered a Mocktail and the signature burger meal. The food arrived in good time, it was filling, the patty was meaty and tasted like good quality meat with flavour. They did not skimp, and I had to take half home. Always a plus when you get a tasty treat for later! By 7ish people started arriving and by the time I finished eating, while listening to an audiobook, it was pretty busy. Even so, I didn't notice because I was looked after. Service didn't slow down for me. I did notice when the karaoke started, and I felt like I sat down in a community of people. They seemed friendly. If I wasn't so introverted at that time they seemed liked, they would have pulled me into their fun evening.

In all, it made me feel welcome, and I know I will go again for a reward or maybe tea and ice...
