🚇 Palmers Green 🍺 £4.50 Amstel The Chestnut Tree is located in the heart of Palmers Green, North London. The nearest station is Palmers Green mainline. This former shop first opened as an Irish-themed pub in 1998, called The Wander Inn. A year later, it was renamed The Wishing Well and became part of a chain. Following a major refurbishment in 2023, it reopened as The Chestnut Tree and is now operated by Craft Union. The name The Chestnut Tree was chosen to commemorate the impressive horse chestnut that stood for three hundred years on the triangular traffic island, which gives its name to the road junction at the heart of Palmers Green. This is a small, one-bar pub with a traditional feel. The bar is tucked away in the back left corner and has a solid mahogany counter. The place is decorated with wood panelling, wallpaper, vintage signs, and black-and-white photos of old Palmers Green. There’s plenty of comfy seating and a jazzy carpet that adds a bit of character. You’ll also find multiple screens around the bar showing live sport. Oh, and the pub is absolutely spotless. The beer lineup is all keg, with a selection of familiar favourites. I went for an Amstel—my pint hit the spot and was reasonably priced at under a fiver. This is a wet-led pub, so no food is served. I arrived just after 2 p.m. on a bright and sunny Saturday afternoon in March. The pub was fairly busy, with some local lads sitting around the bar and a few solo drinkers enjoying a quiet pint. The service was excellent—I had a quick chat with Helen, the landlady, who’s originally from Limerick in Ireland. She was warm, welcoming, and friendly, and made sure everyone was well looked after. The pub shows live sport and also hosts live music. Cheap pints, comfortable surroundings, friendly locals, and great hospitality—what a great little pub this is! 📅 1st March 2025 If you want to see all my pub reviews in one place, head to @londonpubmap on Instagram. 🍻

Unbelievable hospitality, make you feel so welcome. Paul, is a saint - what a gent. We came out spontaneously for a little drink and a bite to eat, ended up in here for hours due to the company and staff. Amazing guys, thank you for the hospitality. The Irish stew, was 10/10. Will be back to catch up.

First time is a really English experience. I wish only I have come here much sooner. Great service if you only ask for sports discipline someone from the service will switch for you the channel. Sits better than sofa. Awesome mood, music, beer and service. Everything you need is in this place.

I been in this pub a regular for years. The first manageress was Christina. She was always welcoming anyone wether Irish or else (this pub I realise it's Irish pub) Since Christina moved to Ireland it changed hands couple of times. Its been very quiet pub and I liked that, always I found a seat. I must say that each time I visited the pub I had minimum 3 pints, usually I drink 4 or six pints in short time and go home. When I say regular I mean 4 or five times a week. But recently I was in the pub and I asked if its possible to watch the German masters snooker. The lady put it on for me, then she ask me to move from where i was setting to another spot because other customers wanted to watch football on the particular screen and so I moved to another TV screen and I thanked her. But surprisingly by the time I settle down on the new spot, she switched that screen to a football match. I complained and the lady told me, sorry but someone wanted to watch football. Then I realised the pub is Irish and I am not rish, I am Greek Cypriot, so if you are Irish go to the pub,if you are not don't bother because you will be disappointed at one point. Of course after so many years a regular customer I won't visit the pub again. It seems the new owners are...

Not one to hav to make a review on a pub in my area 5 generation lived my whole life. Under new management. Our community is mixed. My 8 year old daughter has better manners . When I asked if they served my drink no gets notice they did. Rude dismissive. I know the colour of my skins not a problem👸🏾 Humour him. Do you hav a problem with me after throwing a beer mat placing my beer no where 🤔 near it. New management amused by this man lack of social skills 👌 customer care no chance 🤭 when asked if he has a problem with me. I know my customers. New management my area don't know me. I would say avoid. We're no bexley heath. We're whole much better n more like a big mixing bowl 🥣. All together as one. Bar man definitely needs to work on 🤔everything. So looking forward to my next visit 😊 ☺️ Definitely bringing...
