The Yard Cafe Ltd — Restaurant in London

I’ve been coming here with my husband for a few years now, and it’s always been our favourite coffee spot in the area. The place is very cosy, never too loud, and the music selection is always spot on. The staff are also very friendly. However, since the Italian guy left a couple of months ago, the quality of the coffee has dropped to the point where it’s almost undrinkable. The lady who works there is absolutely lovely, but unfortunately, she doesn’t seem to know what she’s doing when it comes to making coffee. My husband has worked in the coffee industry for years, and we’ve noticed she makes far too many glaring mistakes with every coffee she prepares. The milk is always burnt, and as a result, the coffee isn’t made properly – this is obvious from both the foam and the taste, which is awful. We’ve continued to visit because we really love the atmosphere, and I even tried asking for a coffee that wasn’t too hot to see if it would help, but sadly it didn’t – it was the same as always. :( I really hope the staff can receive better training, because otherwise we’ll have no choice but to find a new...

I am a habitually late person, but am trying to leave the house earlier these days so I have time to grab a perfect cappuccino before the train. The perkiest “Have a good one!”, as I turn to leave genuinely makes my day better before I’ve even tasted the coffee. LOVE the new evening hours with chill music and low lights. It’s a beautiful way to transition from work to home - especially after a day that’s only gone downhill from the cheery morning greeting. Really hope these evening...

Cool coffee bar! High ceilings; good music - classy not schlocky - at the right volume; nice people running the place; lots of greenery; lamps; a chandelier! Little outside spot. Good coffee - I had decaf - and plenty of it in a generous mug (unlike Gail's a few doors along - measly cups). Decent blueberry & walnut muffin. Something soothing about the way the light enters a dark room. Cosy AND refreshing. Wanted to stop here...
