I used to know the owner back in high school. By all means this is an unbiased review. Figured I might as well since I was leaving a review for other places in the local area.
I went here back in 2012 for my birthday and the manager at the time Rezwan greeted us not knowing who I was. Then we had a little chat. We were than given seats at our tabel after a 2-5min wait as it aas busy.
The food came quick and water/salt/pepper and tissue were all availablw at the table with chutneys as indian restraunts should be.
The food came within a few mins around 20mins max for all dishes and our starter in 5-10min if I remember correctly.
There was a waiter with us who I cant remember his name a quite older gentleman he was okay not as talkative/upbeat personaloty as the owner which was a downside but he catered us to our needs.
After the food came everything was great in my taste. My mum found the food a little sweet for her liking but shes in her 50's and im sure if we asked to get it a little bit less sugar they would have.
Dinning experience was good and atmosphere too was really packed and lively with music but not to loud.
The end call it was all okay down to the last. The reason that i've come today to leave a review of this place in particular is because my dad had ordered food for him and mum and he said the manager was talking and remembered him from that one day we went there 4years ago. He said the manager was a "lovely guy" haha. The food this time was good too again my mum found it a little sweet but what does she know. All in all would recommend this place for sure if you want some fine dinning indian cuisine.
5/5

Read moreI am writing this review after I had food from here twice. My first experience was a take away where we visited the restaurant and told them that we want hot( spicy) food as we had guests at home. The food that we received was so hot that we never had spicier food than this in our entire life. Our stomach was burning like anything.None of the guests could have it and unfortunately we had to throw all the gravies in the bin. It hits hard when you realise that you had so much expectations. Our second experience was today where we went for fine dining. It took them 25 minutes to prepare the food. In the mean while we ordered papadam. We didn’t know that they would charge us extra pounds for the chutneys ( which we didn’t ask for). We ordered 3 gravies. We ordered the main dishes and not the side dishes and the quantity that we received was just to taste and not satisfy our hunger. The serving bowls were less than half filled . A bigggggg disappointment when you have to pay the same price which you pay everywhere and you get nothing in return. We ordered nans and chapatis and we received actual khameeri roti. There is a big difference between nans and khameeri rotis .Our parents were vegetarian so we ordered vegetable biryani. In return we received biryani that had eggs in it, that was the next disappointment. So, after so much disappointment I would say they really need to consider things seriously. As the name suggests Curry Mahal ( Indian restaurant) being an Indian I can assure you that there was no indianess in the food. Would never...
Read moreUsually i would without question rate Curry Mahal a 5, the waiters are friendly, the food is fabulous & the service is impeccable.....usually!! Tonight was a disaster from the beginning to the very labouress end. Started off ok, they sat us down!! Everything after this can only be compared to the worst airport queue you've ever been in, you know the ones where your plane gets cancelled due to a "minor mechanical fault" & you have to spend the night in the airport, sleeping with your head at a 90 degree angle against your luggage while cursing the vindictive god that did this to you!! One hour & 35 minutes to just get the menu???? Come on people, it was empty when we arrived & everyone else who arrived after us, ate & then left. At least we didn't have an upset baby with us, screaming blue murder at the top of her precious little lungs. If we had, surely that should have prompted an urgency to feed us & get us out the restaurant before everyone elses night was ruined?? Sigh.........obviously that was the case but still no potatoes!!! So nearly 2 hours in & the food arrived, no complaints there as it was delicious as ever but due to the incomprehensible wait, we had to bolt our food down as the Ocado shop was due in 20 minutes & we were a 25 minute drive from home. Now I'm contending with a cranky girlfriend with indigestion, a baby that won't sleep due to the trauma & 2 teenage boys who are somehow blaming me for the whole sorry episode.......The food is still fabulous though so i can't give it...
