Read moreAuthentic Afghan Cuisine with Generous Portions!
Darbar Restaurant serves generous portions of authentic Afghan cuisine, making it a great spot for groups. The Korme Kofta was well-spiced and flavorful, the Kabuli Pulao was generously sized, which our group really appreciated, and I particularly enjoyed the Bolani.
We visited as a group of 16, and while the food was excellent, we did experience a few service hiccups. One of our breads was missing, so we had to share, which was a bit awkward. We asked a waiter about it, but unfortunately, it never arrived. It may have been a genuine mistake, possibly due to it being a busy Sunday. Additionally, despite ordering mango lassi jugs, we weren’t given glasses and had to get them ourselves, which was unexpected for table service.
Due to our group size, we were seated upstairs, where the ambiance was nice, but it was quite cold, even with the heating on. Some of us had to keep our coats on, so that’s something that could be improved.
When it came to paying, the staff were very helpful. Instead of requiring one large payment, Suleyman assisted us individually, making sure the bill was accurate and easy to settle. As an organizer, this was a huge plus, as splitting the bill can often be a hassle.
Overall, Darbar offers great Afghan food with generous portions, but small service improvements would make the experience even better. Would still recommend for those looking for an...
Read moreSo I've been to a few afghan restaurants on London and can honestly say best experience thus far. Really accomodating when we walked in with our buggy. Gave us spacious seating upstairs which was perfect. Waiter was really attentative and respectful. The food: starting with the Qabuli. I have to say best one ive had. Meat cooked to tender perfection. Khelal (carrots and raisins) perfectly sliced and portportinate. To my suprise they offered a side dish of red beans which was not expected but completes the dish without fail. Everyother Afghan restaurant I've visited gives the Qabuli on its own which is nice but always lacks a sidedish or sauce unless you pay a ridecolous price for a whole other main of side dish, and this was the first place that understood this and did it right - keep it up. My wife ordered the kebab ghosh and she absolutely loved it. Extremely tender and finally a resturant not afraid to add some spices (and flavour) to the meat. Lastly we had a chapli kebab which again was cooked beautifully. Tender inside and crispy outside. Afghan chips was really liked by my wife and said it was well cooked so soft inside and crispy outer. I personally was expecting some homemade crinkle cut chips but this is a personal preference.
Overall really satisfied and loved the food and hospitality. Keep...
