Gabe's Afro-Caribbean Food, Cake & Coffee — Restaurant in London

I really wanted to like this! But I really didn't. I was really looking forward to trying Gabe's and in the end I was so disappointed. When I arrived they only had chicken curry and rice left. This was at half past 2 in the afternoon. No sides, no jerk chicken, no salmon nothing. The guy was nice to knock £2 off since I didn't get any options but I was still disappointed because I really wanted to try the jerk chicken. The chicken curry was grainy and I really didn't like the flavour. The rice and peas was bland. The jollof rice had a bit of flavour but was cold. Overall, I was gutted. I think that maybe I caught them on a bad day but from what I tasted, the food was nothing like the flavoursome, authentic afro-caribbean food I'm used to. It was just very...

Absolutely brilliant food that should be at a restaurant. So happy to finally find somewhere that does excellent quality Caribbean food that is genuine to how it should taste. Had the curry goat and was given some of the curry chicken to taste. Both had a lot of flavour and went great with the Jollof rice and slaw. Also got a portion of the jerk chicken wings and was surprised by how easy the meat came away from the bone. Thank you for getting the spice right, not like other places that serve bland food claiming to be Caribbean.

Highly recommend. I had jollof rice with jerk chicken. The guy also gave us a small amount of curry goat to try. It was all gorgeous, the meat was so tender, and soo flavoursome. Also had a really nice heat to it. The guy who served us who I believe owns the business was really lovely aswel. It was £10 for one which we shared, well worth the money though as you get a decent portion with good quality food. I Highly recommend this place.
