Hughe's Pie and Mash. It does what it says on the tin. Pie and Mash and much to our relief they did a Vegan pie and Mash in addition to their beef pie.
The Pie, Mash and Liquor was nice. It was my first time having it and I wanted to try it without any reservations because this is one of London's original street food and has stood the test of time.
I liked it and later on when we were on our way out, I realised from another customer that I could change the liquor to Gravy and me thinks it would be much nicer and this is my personal preference.
Located on the high street so very easily accessible via public transport, the decor inside the shop is interesting. I really like the woodwork, little coat hangers at the edge of every booth.
This shows the thoughtful nature as you take into account the weather and customer pain points and provide the necessities in a way that is convenient and aesthetically pleasing.
The menu is very specific and I like that. There were slices of home made cake that I did not avail myself to on this occasion. But they look very hearty and homemade.
This experience has spurred me on to check out other Pie & Mash places in London when I get an...
Read moreI always wanted to try this new local restaurant but I so wish I hadn't. The restaurant looks great from outside and very appealing but I was very disappointed. Also the fact that they say it is cash only sounds very dodgy indeed. The pie itself was undercooked as evident in the picture attached, the minced meat was weird and very greasy, the gravy was way too watery, only the mash was ok. Unfortunately I was hungry and finished the food, but I almost regretted it instantly. I said thank you and left. That evening my stomach felt weird, I couldn't eat anything else. The following I had been having very bad stomach cramps all morning and still couldn't eat. Today I had to work from home because I am still in too much pain. I was so happy to see a new business open during Covid but unfortunately I can't recommend it. I think either the other reviewers have been served different food or they are lying. Please avoid...
Read moreWanted pie and mash for ages saw this place on Google thought I'll give it a bash, what a waste of time, firstly no one greeted us as we walked in 2 young girls behind the counter who genuinely could not be bothered with anything and an older lady who just about managed a hello the 2nd time around after a quick walk to the cash point as they don't take card. Seemingly it was too difficult to take our order properly and felt like a struggle to ask for pie and mash and tea despite it being all they sell. No napkins given with the food again seemingly because none of the ladies could be bothered offering any kind of service at all. When we'd finished one of the young girls came and just awkwardly took our plates without a word, didn't even ask if we were finished just leant over and took the plates. Food was OK but getting such poor service spoiled...
