Real shame that Istanbul has gone down hill in both service and quality

Went last week for lunch with a friend, service was appalling from the moment we walked in:

The waiter was very unwelcoming and had a disgusting attitude The waiter then disappeared and there were no staff around for 10 minutes, I was considering to get up and leave when eventually a waitress had come out from the back and took our order After taking our order the extra plates and cutlery on our table were not taken away After receiving our starters, I had to remind the waitress of our drinks We had a 35 minutes gap between our starters and mains despite there being only 1 other table of 4 at the time The table was not cleared when the mains came out, instead we had to clear the table ourselves while the waiter stood there The quality of food was not what we were used to, usually the chef is one of the owners but this time it was someone else 8.The staff then decided to take their break all at the same time and sat down on one of the tables for lunch, I felt I was being an inconvenience by disturbing them by asking for additional drinks and sauces Went to visit the toilet which clearly needs work done to it and a good clean because the smell in there was horrific

Towards the end of our meal, as we are about to leave, a gentleman dressed in a blue suit walked in and the staff immediately got up from their seats - turns out he must have been an owner/manager as clearly the staff started working

I've been a regular here for at least 5 years and won't be returning again, this experience has really been off putting, I hope the management take this...

I just wanted to share some well-deserved feedback, as Istanbul truly is one of the finest Turkish restaurants in the Ruislip Manor area. I’ve lived here for 14 years and have enjoyed countless takeaways from Istanbul over that time.

On our visits, the service has been impeccable – professional, attentive, and always welcoming when I’ve come in to collect takeaways. Their service really stands out and deserves recognition.

The food quality is consistently amazing, and it’s clear how much care goes into every dish. As a family-run business, Istanbul brings that personal touch, and it shows both in the food and the atmosphere. I also want to extend my thanks to the Irhan the owner who I see regularly, as well as the entire team – from the kitchen to the front of house.

This recognition is long overdue, but I wanted to say thank you to everyone at Istanbul for the wonderful service and food over the years. I look forward to visiting again soon, whether dining in or ordering a takeaway. Wishing you all the best and continued...

Used to go here years ago and loved it but after todays visit I won’t be back again. The atmosphere….none! Staff were miserable and it wasn’t because it was busy, it was far from it, in fact we didn’t even get a smile. They served our starter with salad but didn’t clear the dishes etc before coming out with our mains. We asked where the salad was for the mains to be told the salad from the starter was it and he seemed pretty put out because we questioned it. I will add the salad wasn’t fresh either.The mains were ok but nothing special at all in fact mine was pretty dry and it’s small portions but as others have said the prices have gone up and portion sizes down. I then had to visit the toilet and that’s was enough for me. They can obviously refit the main eating area but can’t clean toilets or even refit those (I’ll include pics of it). Save your money and go somewhere else. Lots of lovely places to eat in this area so their establishment needs to improve as their competitors are certainly outshining...
