If I could give Jaxons negative stars, it would not be enough. We didn't even get around to using this venue due to the disgusting behaviour of its owner.
My friend planned to have her wedding reception here and I am so thankful she did not.
Firstly, when going to view the venue, the excitable General Manager, told us they could provide a BBQ style buffet, with lamb shanks, grilled salmon and food inspired by the Greek/English bride and groom. We then asked to see the main dining area but was unaware an event was taking place. This didn't stop the GM from insisting we take a look so we popped in there and quickly realised we had crashed a funeral wake. We hurriedly left and said we would come back when there was no one there and in the meantime they would email us a menu.
Despite clear communication and promises (by the owner and GM) that Jaxons could deliver this Greek/English style buffet they sent us a copied menu of the local turkish kebab shop selection (literally copied and pasted from a website) and what can only be described as an Iceland style buffet. At this point we thought it was best to liase with the owner with some ideas of what the bride and groom hoped for (such as grilled meat and veg, lamb shanks which was the GM's idea) and if we could get together and see what was achievable when next visiting the venue.
When we arrived we were met with the owner screaming at my pregnant friend that "what you want is ridiculous, I suggest you find another venue." To say we were shocked is an understatement. The owner stood there screaming at us as my friend sobbed and was left frozen. After I interverned and calmed the situation down, I asked the owner what they were able to achieve for the wedding buffet. This consisted of him going back and forth from the kitchen showing us the Costco bought produce, oven food and deserts that they use. I mean I love a bit of Costco but didn't expect this for a "highly rated" restaurant. The owner then continued with bad mouthing other customers that they had stained his carpet and how he's had to pay for it to be cleaned and talking about his failed lorry business. We left shocked, knowing we would never come back and we could not allow our friend to continue with this venue.
Steer clear!

The fact that you have gone through your reviews and replied with what you have, pretty much sums it up. I also think you will find that it was us that decided not to go ahead with your venue after your disgraceful behaviour and the sea of red flags that you...
Read moreMy partner and I was eager to return to the venue after sampling the menu last week and eating in the park side brassy many times.
Unfortunately after receiving a stone cold Yorkshire pudding the sirloin beef roast being mostly gristle and fat more then edible meat, I sent the dish back with the waitress. She said sheâd have a word with the chef but unfortunately nothing emerged from the kitchen??
Another waitress approached and asked if weâd like a dessert, assuming this was in place of the inedible roast I ordered. On asking for the bill the full payment was required even though I returned my main course?
When the waiter came to pick up the cheque I explained I had in fact sent my main back to the kitchen, he didnât really have much of a response, he took our cash and left the table.
Iâve used Jacksons restaurant for many years and was always more then satisfied with service the quality of food received, unfortunately having tried the new owners menu for a second time we certainly not be returning.
EDIT * Thank you for your reply at last!
Iâm amazed you would have remembered 2 customers allegedly having an argument 5 months previous?? As stated to your waitress and again in my original review the beef served was mostly gristle and fat and was inedible. After sending my dish back with the waitress hoping my constructive criticism would be taken a little more serious it obviously fell on deaf earsâŚâŚ. Hopefully your staff will take constructive feedback a little more seriously with...
Read moreIf you enjoy Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and wish to be part of an episode Jaxon's at Cranham Golf Course is the place to visit. I attended Jaxon's as a guest at a private hire event where we were all due to have afternoon tea. From start to finish this place was an absolute disaster due to a highly incompetent and emotionally unstable chef/owner who was unable to understand basic dietary requirements. When questioned the chef literally snatched the food from another diner's hand who was happy to eat the dish as it did not impact their requirements. The cakes put out were clearly from a super market, which included a very poorly cut up Victoria Sponge and Mr Kipling cakes just thrown on to a plate. The scones looked like they were hand made, but were of extremely poor quality. When informed he was ruining the party his words were "I don't care....can you all just leave?" And this was just the start! He was then continously abusive to my friend who left her own party in tears. It's a shame because the venue is stunning and his waiters are lovely. If you would like to book a special event...
