Plenty of parking outside, although inside it has that familiar contemporary Indian go-go club experience where you feel like you’re walking into the furnishing section of a Matalan warehouse in the remote outpost of Kazakhstan; as everything is chintzy overload, that you get the immediate impression the owners must celebrate Christmas all year round and not just in December.
I wished these themed Indian restaurants would hire an interior designer that understood restaurant aesthetics.
Food was nothing to write about. We only ordered starters and that was nearly £60 for a few plates of average gloop. They had a mixed grill on the menu, which we initially thought would be safe to order as it would have the usual Indian prerequisite of arriving at our table sizzling hot on a cast iron griddle, whereby the meat is still being blasted by the heat from the burnt layers of deep-fried onions underneath.
Instead, we got a few clumps of meat on a cold plate, that was so mild that we had to send it back not only for a reheat, but a blast of defrosting first.
We complained to our waitress that we shouldn’t be charged for the mixed grill as we hardly ate much as it was cold and not very appetising.
She looked as enthusiastic in exceeding her levels of service quality as a tangerine misplaced in the vegetable section of a supermarket aisle.
These guys seriously don’t understand customer service and it’s unique tie to repeat business; as they kept the mixed grill on our bill.
To top it all, for the last half hour of our dining experience, for some unknown reason the staff decided to turn up the background music to such a high level that the local council noise abatement officer was nearly woken up from his bed and informed of the disturbance.
Shocking establishment, run by owners and staff that have no concept on service quality and thankfully won’t...
Read moreWe had a great time here on a Saturday lunchtime. There were 8 of us celebrating an 80th birthday. The service team were outstanding. They were polite, professional, unobtrusive, patient, everything you could want from a front-of-house team. The food was also delicious.
We had a selection of starters and a number of mains (butter chicken, biryani etc.), with naan and various sides and everything arrived hot, on time, everything was correct and most importantly it tasted great. Drinks were plentiful with jugs of soft drinks on offer with draft and Bottled beer and cocktails/mocktails.
The restaurant wasn't too busy, as you'd expect on a Saturday lunchtime (hence 4 stats for the atmosphere) , but it didn't feel barren so don't take it as a negative, it was just the time of day. We made our own fun out in the conservatory. They kindly put "Happy Birthday" on the music system when they brought out the birthday cakes we'd asked them to serve. They were very accommodating.
The waiters regularly checked that we were OK and enquired whether we needed anything but without any pressure so it was easy to relax and take our time. They were happy to split the bill between multiple people too.
Overall I highly recommend the Karma Lounge. It was clean and bright, tables were not crowded together, toilets were clean and fresh (gents... One light bulb needs changing and you should get that grafitti off the back of the door). The sink taps were pretty low pressure too. But, again, the loo was clean, tidy and in good condition.
Thanks for a lovely meal. My mother-in-law had a great time with her family, in no small part down to your professionalism and great...
Read moreWent here the other day as a repeat customer as a table of 4.
Booked online, no issues with being seated. The waiter came to take drinks, took the other 3 drinks no issues then struggled to understand what a southern comfort lemonade is. He then got someone else double check what I ordered, so again I said southern comfort lemonade, which isn't a uncommon drink. Unsure if it was a language barrier for them or an accent issue?
Onto the starters.
We got asked if we wanted poppadoms which yes of course, can't go wrong with them, unless you are karma lounge who brought the sauces but no poppadoms. Starters came which were nice I have no complaints on them.
Mains, I ordered a butter chicken which was fine wasn't anything to shout about but there was something odd about the chicken they used it was very thin and abit rubbery. One other in the party who ordered a chicken dish thought similar.
The bill came, and they put that it was a double southern comfort? I queried it but they weren't for giving a full explanation. And I can definitely confirm it was not a double as I don't like my spirit drinks to harsh so I would always order a single. They was still refusing to budge that they didn't make a double despite our bill being well over 200 quid also they was unbothered when we mentioned we never got the poppadoms either
I know it took 2 waiters to take my drink order but I didn't think they'd charge me twice for it.
So I'm not going back here on pure principle of how they are towards the customers. Yes it's local but it's not the only curry...
