Nice concept but needs some improvement. The olives from Spain were really great. The Arancini, delicious. The crab Thermidor Mac n cheese also good. The scotch egg was very good with a crunchy and well seasoned exterior and a perfectly cooked egg. Sadly, the steak that was ordered medium rare was closer to rare leaving the fat not rendered and an overall chewy experience - would also be better sliced as it was a sharing plate which made it a bit difficult to slice and share. Was hoping for good desserts but unfortunately the meringue in the Eton mess was soggy rather than crunchy and didn’t execute the overall experience of an eton mess. Coffee and beer were great. Friendly and helpful staff.

Some of the nicest food we’ve had in a restaurant in a while. The excellent mains of Haddock and Coley Fishcake and Braised Beef Massaman emboldened us to order pudding- sticky toffee pudding no less and very good it was. So we also had a cheese plate, again well presented and of a high quality. The vibe is very casual and we were pleasantly surprised to find an interesting wine list as well as the Park Brewery beers on offer. Tucked away but well worth an excursion in our view.

Super friendly staff, lovely bright décor, great little 'private' room at the back, and a delicious range of small dishes to accompany their award-winning local beer and great wine / spirits selection. Having been for drinks plus lunch now, this is such a fantastic local asset and a brilliant new addition to the neighbourhood from the brilliant folk behind the Park Brewery. I had the chicken panini and am genuinely still salivating over the wild garlic pesto dressing...

I walked in (Saturday morning) and noticed I was the only customer, and there was one staff member, a 1:1 ratio.

So I stood politely and waited at the till to be served. I thought it should be pretty soon as there are no other customers.

Anyway, I watched a fabulous display of the one staff member pretending to be busy by moving random coffee paraphanelia around. It was clearly urgent, though, as this went on for a good few minutes. I eventually concluded that you mustn't actually want customers and left.

So I then went to another café in town - it was completely rammed, and I got served immediately. And, as an added bonus, they also confirmed to me that I'm not, in fact, invisible.

One of the most basic standards in hospitality is to acknowledge your customer straight away, even if you can't serve them straight away.

Doing so heightens your chances of securing a sale very considerably. Otherwise, the customer is left with a larger than necessary amount of time to think about your many competitors.

So, is your coffee/avocado/whatever good? I'll never know, and sadly I don't intend to find out....

yesterday my wife and I went to the Brew cafe for a coffee. This is what we experienced:

Great atmosphere inside, lovely and light. The female member of staff greeted us as we want in and offered assistance straightaway, friendly, approachable, welcoming. The pastries looked fabulous, the coffee clearly listed, the lunch menu was offered as well. We were asked where we would like to sit, our coffee order was taken, our attention was drawn to the special of the day (steak sandwich). We upgraded our coffee trip to lunch because of what was available and how friendly the staff were (two male staff and the female staff member). We chose the steak sandwich special and the feta salad, both were great. We will be back.

Our thanks to you for your beer, for the new community meeting place and food offering. We will be back to try the beers that are available there and not many other places, eg I want to try the English Ale next time. Well done to you and the whole team. Wishing you...
