Awful service, mediocre food. The restaurant was busy when I arrived on Saturday night but I was willing to be patient. I didn't mind waiting 15 minutes for a table, but I did find it rude that none of the staff acknowledged me while I was waiting even though several made eye contact or gestured towards me to their coworkers. When someone did bring me to a table the table wasn't clean. I assumed someone would come by to wipe the table and replenish the cutlery but no one ever did. I had to leave my table and ask another server for silverware when my food arrived. No one offered me a second drink or asked how my food was. I waited over 30 minutes for the bill. At first, I was patiently reading my book, but then I worried the staff would think I wanted to stay so instead I tried making eye contact. After 20 minutes of being walked past or justed stared at I finally flagged someone down so I could leave the restaurant. Everyone was very friendly when I was able to speak with them, unfortunately they treated me like I...
Read moreBar Eleven is a perfectly fine option - among the admittedly limited options - for eating around the Renaissance.
The food is of variable quality. In my experience, the Butter Chicken has usually been very good, the Tower Beef Burger has been OK, and the Southern Fried Quorn Burger has been hard work. All of it is quite overpriced.
The atmosphere has been chilled on all my visits. The booths can be in high demand but are great for families, seating about eight people.
The service is also generally very good and often outstanding. On our last lunchtime visit though there was some miscommunication and we were given an unwanted Butter Chicken.
I don't know of many other food options close to the Renaissance, apart from a McDonalds and The Pheasant (which sadly isn't kid-friendly), but Bar Eleven should get...
Read moreWe had just flown into LHR Terminal 5 and took the shuttle bus to this hotel, the LHR Renaissance for a night. Getting there and to the bar just after 11PM, we wanted to grab a glass of wine. We felt like we needed a snack too and asked the bartender for a menu, which he promptly gave us. They’re open for food until 11:30PM. We ordered their Chunky Fries and Wings.
The wings came with a peri sauce, which was really spicy and very flavorful. The wings themselves were amazing without using the sauce. They come with the sauce on the side and the batter on the wings was so very flavorful on its own! They were plenty meaty too. The fries were also excellent, crispy, and piping hot!
Overall, we really enjoyed this quick, late night bar stop – everything...
