This was a welcome haven after a somewhat wet and muddy walk in Epping Forest. We had started by the clubhouse of the South Woodford golf club and had explored the many paths to Chingford Hatch. It was a rare fine day, just before the beast from the east had frozen the brass balls off the monkey of London. There were a few of us, all part of Walkers Anonymous, an out and about group made up of survivors of this country's flawed mental health system. We walk for the company as much as for the scenery, and the benefits include the sense of achievement from completing what can be a challenging walk. We all had a good time in the café. Tho it was nice I had some chopped mint leaf sprinkled all over my breakfast which was not advertised on the menu. Spent the whole time trying to avoid it. Mint has no place sprinkled all over breakfasts in my opinion. I also asked for a latte and if they have oat milk or soya and the waitress looked at me like I was mad. Read moreWe’ve lived in the area for about six years and this café has been a go-to spot for both breakfast and lunch. The food is consistently great, with plenty of healthy options at really reasonable prices. They do a cracking omelette (excuse the pun!) and the grilled chicken is spot on.
What really makes it stand out, though, is the staff – always friendly, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating to our two young children. They always take the time to speak to them, which we really appreciate.
