Saggor Tandoori Restaurant — Restaurant in London

Even though we have lived in the area for a number of years, this was our first visit to Saggor Tandoori, and it did not disappoint.

The restaurant is much bigger than it appears from the outside

Decor is modern and fresh and with an unusual 'river wall' a real attention grabber, at least for me.

Despite it being midweek, the restaurant was busy, always a good sign, with a pleasant atmosphere.

As it was our first visit we stuck to a couple of tried and tested staples of Chicken Korma and Lamb Rogan Josh, accompanied by the usual selection of rice, breads and dips, all excellent.

Staff were attentive, friendly and efficient and during the meal we discovered that the restaurant, which has been in the same family for over 40 years, offers what they describe as old fashioned sized portions which have, in recent years, perhaps fallen foul of the profligate celebrity chef eateries that appear to have sprung up everywhere, and where the emphasis is very much style over substance.

The food is a bit below average, but the main problem with this restaurant and most other takeaways in the Bexley area is that their hygiene standards as rated by the Food Standards Agency is decidedly average or lower. Also would avoid the Chinese a few shops along the Food Standards Agency have given it their lowest rating, pretty much condemning the takeaway.{shame as the food tasted good,but I won't be eating from there again}} You can check the Food Hygiene rating of your local takeaway on the Food Standards Agency web site. I recently dined at this Indian restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The flavors were authentic, and the variety of dishes catered to diverse palates. The service was impeccable, creating a delightful dining experience. I highly recommend trying their biryani and tandoori specialties – truly a culinary experience.
