We visited on Sunday and initial first impressions were great and we were talking about how we would use this as our local gem for when people come to visit unfortunately by the end of our experience we will not be returning, The positives, the staff were very pleasant & welcoming and took the time to say goodbye when we left, we found the prices extremely reasonable. Even though a lot of food was out of stock we worked around that.
Now for the negatives, ordered at the same time as my brother but made the mistake of asking for the starters to be brought out separately to the main. My brothers food and our starters came out in good time but then we waited nearly an hour for our main to arrive. I'm not an unreasonable person and I've worked in much busier pubs in central London before so I know it wouldn't have taken much for someone to come around to apologise for the wait and offer a drink or something complementary for the inconvenience. But no it wasn't until I asked what was happening that I was told 5 mins. Again if the poor chef was on their own it wouldn't have taken much to inform people of this and from there we could have made a decision to wait or get a refund and move on. When our food did finally arrive my steak was hands down the worst steak I have ever tasted in my life it just tasted of charcoal it was over cooked when I asked for medium rare to add insult to injury I paid extra for a larger steak. I could not even finish it, it was that bad.
As for the regulars, well the Sunday football crowd this is nothing on the pub or the staff or the owners as they cannot control the type of people that come into the place, but the racial slur one of the guy's tried to say as he walked past us knowing all his mates were outside, if it wasn't for the fact we had a pregnant lady with us. He could have easily been picking bits of glass out of his face as we don't stand for that anywhere we go, he's a very lucky boy.
It is a shame I had to write this review as we actually had such a positive first impression but unfortunately as I have listed above it will not be a place I...
Read moreWith the amount of pubs this close to each other in the kent area is it no surprise to me how difficult it must be to stand out. However, the staff at the three blackbirds have made it seem so easy⌠my experience today showed me a type of service that all other pubs in the area are screaming out for! An initial rush of welcomeness cannot go unnoticed but the sheer attentiveness, patience and kindness of the staff here make this a really enjoyable place to be. Backed up with good food, good drinks and good prices Iâm struggling here to find a negative. In my recent experience I was served by; Lisa, Tony and Amy who all ooze that homely feeling! It just makes me always want to come back when I have an experience like today⌠after tearing my esopagus recently, its been extremely difficult to find a drink that doesnât cause extreme pain to consume, after dedicated time from Lisa I had a clear idea of my best options and as if by magic I can now drink without little to No discomfort. For me personally you cannot fault that kind of experience. For first timers the entire main entrance is on a slope for complete wheelchair access(toilets included) Iâve just had a hip replacement and apart from the smoking area I didnât feel at all inhibited which is extremely rare. Tony and Lisa are the type of bar maids that makes sure youâre always looked after and not standing around waiting for too long which works great considering Amy in the back had consistent, high quality food coming out in very desirable times not to mention the new fella who just joined called Ed he really matches the ambience and lovely atmosphere and service as the rest which was rather impressing...
Read moreLatest visit they let us down I'm sorry to say. The food was still good, but waited an hour for the food to be served, with no one advising or updating us on this, and we had the grandchildren with us which made it worse. Need to improve on this.
Still regularly return here, even with all of the added difficulties due to Covid restrictions, staff still welcoming and friendly, and the food is good, although limited at times due to having sold out. Definitely recommend here.
We regularly return here now and have never had any reason to change our original review. The recent facelift has improved the inside, more open and comfier now. Same fantastic staff. Keep up the good work and see you soon.
