Went to this restaurant last night for a birthday dinner. Looked good on social media but was perhaps the worst restaurant that I have ever been to. We arrived Saturday evening, chilled, there was only one table of people besides us. We ordered drinks, they took over 30 minutes to arrive. By the time my strawberry daiquiris arrived on the table, it was already watery. It tasted like blended pink ice with a dash of Wray & Nephews. The kids milkshakes were watery, they blended some milk and Oreo’s and called it a day.
I ordered the jerk chicken and jollof. IT WAS THE WORST JERK CHICKEN IVE EVER TASTED IN MY LIFE. Not to mention, our food took exactly 53 minutes to arrive to the table after we ordered. My jerk chicken was more black than a coal. I could only attempt to eat the drumstick which was drier than the Sahara, no jerk flavour at all just some twice cooked dry chicken with a bit of smoke flavour.
My friends ordered chicken suya and they hated it, it was so dry that my friend said that was “biltong” (dried jerky from South Africa). Our lamb chops never made it to the table because they forgot about it. The service was soooo slow that as soon as the food got to the table we asked for the bill because we knew that it was gonna take an hour for it to arrive and it was not even busy, there were just two tables.
The only decent thing was the jollof. Also they didn’t have 50% of the things on the menu weird for a Saturday evening
I will be doing a full review on TikTok because I feel like we were CATFISHED.
*EDIT AFTER YOUR RESPONSE
I had hoped you’d be honest in your response instead of making it seem like I’m trying to hurt your business. So, let me clarify the things you said.
When we arrived there was one big table there I guess that’s the VIP area that you are talking about and it seemed like they had already eaten and because no food went to their table until they left. Secondly we were attended by a whole 4 people the entire time we were there because we kept having to call whoever we can find because the service was that slow. The first person to come take our drinks order was a young lady that we saw again preparing the food. It took more than 30 minutes to get the drinks after we ordered and I already told you about the quality of the cocktail and milkshake so I’m not going to get to that.
We further waited about 20 minutes after we received the drinks until we had to call someone to take the order, we called a light skinned young lady who then I guess when to call you to take the order. None of your staff and even yourself was aware of the jerk chicken promotion written outside, you even had to go back outside to check on it and came back to take the rest of the order and you explained it to me how the special worked and I chose not to go with it but rather the full meal on the menu. The guy on the table ordered two dishes, the chicken suya and the lamb chops, I guess you didn’t pick up on that.
Finally 45 minutes later when we did receive the food, it was brought by a young gentleman, we asked him about the lamb chops, he said “yeah more food is coming” so we started eating because 45 minutes to wait for food is wild even freshly made like you say. I’ve been to many Afro Caribbean places and have never waited that long. After 10 minutes of eating, we called the young gentleman again who served us to ask about the lamb chops and he again said he’ll check and when he came back he seemed to be more confused about it, there seemed to also be a language barrier with him because it seemed like he didn’t understand when we were explaining the lamb chops situation and hence we just asked for the bill while we were eating. Ask the gentleman because we did address our issues with him.
jerk chicken, I’m not joking or trying to be mean when I say that was the worst jerk chicken I have ever had. Tasted like boiled chicken put on the grill for smoke and black sauce. Many things were not available. Only when we left there were three more table. The food was not good and so...

Pulled up to this restaurant for my friend’s birthday dinner on a Friday night at 8:30pm — expecting vibes, energy, a full house… maybe even a lil’ “happy birthday” sparkler moment? Babes, the place was empty. One lonely table of customers. We should’ve known.
On the bright side, we were greeted by a lovely lady who seated us quickly. I’d seen some great photos and videos of the food on social media, so I was genuinely excited to try it. Unfortunately… the reality didn’t match the Instagram hype.
drinks: Rum Punch tasted like juice from the corner shop. I’m Jamaican — and I can confirm, not a drop of actual rum touched that drink.
Then came the strawberry daiquiri, which was the opposite — it tasted like Wray & Nephew over crushed ice. No flavour balance, just straight rocket fuel. Whiplash.
Starters: We tried to order a few things, but the waitress kept telling us they weren’t available. Bare in mind, it’s Friday night — not a Tuesday morning. Eventually we settled on prawns and chicken wings.
Prawns – bland, unseasoned, painfully spicy, still had the shell AND the gunk in the tail. Like… be serious. To top it off, they were sprinkled with… dried flowers? Not a garnish — a full florist’s sweep. We had to pick petals off our food before even thinking about eating. Why?!
The wings were dry beyond belief, then drowned in a burnt-tasting sauce to cover it up. Didn’t help.
Mains: When the rest of the group arrived, we tried again with mains — More disappointment with a side of confusion. Again, loads of things “not available” — on a Friday. Make it make sense.
We ended up with: Lamb chops with jollof rice: Chops were dry, tough, and totally lacking flavour. The jollof was edible, but overpowered with cinnamon — which I’ve never experienced before in jollof. It threw the whole thing off.
Curry goat with white rice: They brought it out with rice and peas by mistake, then brought a bowl of plain rice after. The goat itself was like salty soup full of bones — zero richness or depth.
Oxtail with rice and peas: Looked good, but was absolutely overloaded with pimento. One bite was enough.
Chicken suya: My friend originally wanted beef suya (but shocker — not available). The chicken was dry, sad, flavourless, and honestly inedible.
And yes — every single dish came sprinkled in those same crunchy little dried flowers like they were trying to start a herbarium. Pretty? Maybe. Practical? Absolutely not.
Toilets: The only thing worse than the food. Grim.
Final Thoughts: Service was actually lovely, and I do feel for the waitress — but good vibes can’t carry terrible food, dirty loos, and a menu where half the items are “just finished.”
Wouldn’t return. The vibes were off, the food was worse, and even the...
Read moreI don’t know why people here are lying. The food is awful, service is extremely slow and the men who work here are rude and unprofessional. This is why some black peoples business won’t prosper because this is the foolishness I wasted my money on. Travelling from outside of London 2 hours to Romford for this restaurant and was so excited had high expectations but it was truly disappointing. It took 1hr and a half for someone to talk our order. The drinks came first then he came back to take our food order at which they had pretty much nothing on the menu but peppered prawns curry goat and jerk chicken. I didn’t want any of those but the desired dish I wanted wasn’t available. I love prawns but I can’t eat spicy food I just had stomach surgery and can’t eat spicy foods or it can burn my insides and cause serious damage. I kept on saying the the guy who took my order that I can’t eat spicy food are you sure the prawns isn’t spicy. At that point I didn’t even want their food but he insisted it wasn’t spicy and I was hungry already had been there about 2.5 hours at this point so I asked one last time I’m not Nigerian I don’t eat extremely spicy food like there people do. He said it’s pepper but not spicy so I said okay I’ll get that. It finally came out and I tasted it before I tasted it my friend who didn’t want there food said wow she can already smell the spice I said let me not be an annoying customer even tho it’s my money I’m spending. Had the smallest bit and it literally burned my whole mouth and insides I wanted to cry. After him basically making me feel pressured to just get something he basically lied because anyone with a mouth can taste how hot those prawns were I was so upset. Then after when we told him he said he can’t change the dish or take it off the bill because I touch it already my friend tried to argue that that’s just ridiculous but I just left it he brought the bill and multiple times did he try to over charge us then he left the bill after we paid and we worked it out our selves with the receipt and realised he overcharged us by £8 but instead of coming out like a man and apologise to two young females. He sends his nice colleague out to deal with the issue even tho she wasn’t present when he messed up in the first place but she explained his mistake and apologised on his behalf I told her it’s not her fault but thank you. They took the nasty food away and we left. Never coming here again and that waiter needs to be trained how you treat unhappy customers. I’ve been a manger in many restaurants and this isn’t how you handle criticism. Please don’t come here for food as they probably won’t have anything anyway. The drinks were 10/10 I’m going to be honest the food and his behaviour wasn’t good but the drinks were...
