Taste of Bengal — Restaurant in London

as promised when my son and I came last night for a hearty curry and other dishes - We were warmly welcomed when we went in and shown to our seats. Our order was taken and within a couple of mins a plate of poppadoms with a selection of dips were presented to us 'on the house'. Before we finished it our food was read. Piping hot they were placed beautifully on our table. The hot food was placed on a hot plate which came in handy as we'd just come in from the freezing cold outside. We order lamb curry, spinach and lentil curry, paneer curry, tangy lemon lamb curry, 2 nans and a plate of rice. Every dish was seasoned to perfection, the lamb was tender and cooked beautifully. The paneer was soft and juicy and the lentils with spinach was amazingly comforting and filling and I honestly couldn't get enough of the hot nan bread and well made rice. The portions were very generous, the food was very, very tasty, the waiter was charming and kept topping up our jug of water with lemon slices at every opportunity. Visited for the first time last night with friends and seated a table of 5 of us in a nicely decorated dining area which was clean, tidy and good ambience. The welcome on arrival was a very good customer experience with a friendly, personable and attentive team. The poppadoms, drinks and speed of service was perfect providing a decent opportunity to catch-up with friends and chat, without being rushed or waiting for anything - really well done. The mains were absolutely phenomenal. I had the Chicken Garlic Chilli Masala and it was one of the best curry dishes I’ve ever had - absolutely delicious and presented really well too - thank you. Finished off with an ice cream at the end as well, all perfectly done - not rushed to get out the door at the end of the night either, very reasonable prices … will definitely be back, 5 🌟, thank you for making a great night, catching up with friends 👍🏻

A pleaseant discovery on a week night. The service is good, the food is delicious. A place you want to try for very good and fresh indian food if you live in the area Purley, South Croydon, Purley Oaks and Sanderstead but also from further away as it's easy to find a parking place around there. Update: a few days later we also ordered take-away dinner calling directly the restaurant landline as we are living close by and it was as delicious as dining in. Good portions and very well packed. Very good customer service when we called to place the order.

Update: We came back for dinner after 4 months and it was as pleasant as the first time, delicious food and impeccable service. 5 stars again...
