I’d read a lot of good things about this little place and we weren’t disappointed. If you truly know what biriyani is, you know that this is it. Biriyani isn’t meant to be overly spiced or oily, it’s meant to be fragrant, delicate and a feast to the senses. Our biriyani was served beautifully, topped with rose petals and fried onions. I personally felt it wasn’t as warm as I’d love it to have been served but the gentle aroma of saffron and all the right spices more than made up for it. I’ve had plenty of biriyani in my life and apart from the biriyani I make at home, dishoom and this place I absolutely hate them all. Over spicy, over oily and often sludgy it’s a shame that they’re even allowed to call it biriyani. The serving was plentiful, didn’t really get what the boiled eggs were about or the aubergine curry on the side, the raita however was a perfect side. I’d say this was definitely a 5 star biriyani as close to the real thing as you can ever expect. If you’re looking for spicy, heavy, indigestion inducing rice sludge you may be...
Read moreA generous 3 Stars. I've been today with the family to this small place about 4 or 5 tables. Kids enjoyed the OXO and 4 in a row wooden games till order arrived. Two biggest disappointments one is the portion for a biryani for £10 was very small (I am slim built 32 waist :P). The other disappointment is Biryani itself, Went in the expectation of it being authentic Hyderabadi biryani. This is NOT HYDERABAD BIRYANI so anyone going with this expectation will return highly disappointed. It is more of a garam masala flavoured rice with two tiny pieces of chicken topped with fried onions and a bland boiled egg. I felt it was a day light robbery!! A mentioned about the the starter Murgh Malai Tikka again 4 to 5 pieces for £9 pounds but it was authentic and did not feel so bad. A final mention of Kids Biryani about 50 gram of yellow rice with no chicken for £4...Not worth and not going there again mainly because it is not Authentic Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani after all!! The Lady who served us was very sweet and...
Read moreAMAZING! Had the family Biryani bucket (mutton) delivered on Sunday - my wife had read excellent reviews about this place, but I was not ready for the amazing truely authentic flavours and delicious and generous portions of food.
Excellent presentation, food adorned with petals with a hint of rose and safron throughout.
It's Tuesday and I'm still thinking about the food that I had on Sunday- looking at the menu again today they seem to have a selection of tasty starters that I'm going to have to try. Not been this passionate about a restaurant for a long time!
I've been to some classy Indian restaurants in town by far this beats them all on the biryani front - for keeping to authentic flavours and home\traditional cooking methods and style.
One recommendation if ordering from here, order an additional aubergine curry - as its really tasty and comes with the biryani but you'll find that its just soo moorish that you will be looking around for more!
Now - I just need to think of an excuse to order...
