My friend booked @ the restaurant on Friday 28/8/20 for a Saturday 29th booking at 6.30 pm for a celebration. We were apprehensive about going due to the risk of Covid 19 but as the Government had released CLEAR guidelines for restaurants to adhered to we felt safer. On arrival, we were welcomed and used the hand sanitiser and ushered to our seat. We noticed the tables were very close together, approximately ½ metre but thought nothing of it as there was only 1 other table with 3 customers in the corner. The staff were pleasant, good service generally and the food was very nice. As we were eating our food, a lot of customers started to come in approximately 18 people and the tables started to fill. The tables were so close (less than 1Metre) together that we started to get nervous and didn’t fully eat our food because we felt that we were NO LONGER SAFE.
I paid £67 for two of us and immediately left not to compromise our safety. I was so FURIOUS so I returned and asked to speak to the Manager, then the owner. I explained the situation that we "felt rushed and left for the fear of Covid as they were NOT keeping the required distance" but both of them pretended not to understand English and tried to deny we were in the restaurant previously. They certainly could understand English when we arrived. I was then told “YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED AT HOME AND THAT THEY CANNOT HELP IT IF THEY ARE BUSY”. I am so DISGUSTED at such treatment having paid £67, especially the owner NOT even willing to listen to my concerns and OBVIOUSLY feels that PROFIT is MORE IMPORTANT THAN CUSTOMER SAFETY. WE will NOT be returning to a restaurant that COMPROMISES SAFETY/LIFE.
• DID NOT lower the number of customers that can reasonably follow social distancing guidelines (2m, or 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable, is acceptable) at the venue. The tables were not at least 1m apart distance between tables; HE ASKED ME TO PROVE IT. • NO arrangement of a one-way system in the restaurant • NO contactless payment to decrease customer contact • NO clear guidance on social distancing and hygiene to customer on arrival • Handling on Knife and Folks rather than wrapping them up to reduce risk • DID NOT maintain at least 1M distance when taking orders or payment • NO ventilation in the building • TOO many staff not social distancing
I will be reporting the restaurant; NOT because its not complaint but because the OWNER failed to listen to a complaint & dismissed my concerns. 1st...
Read moreCame here for my mum's birthday meal. it was our first time coming here and had no idea what to expect but we were very happily surprised. We were greeted with a waiter opening the door for us and saying hello whilst shaking our hands. He showed us to our table and as there was a larger group of us, we got put in the booth which made us feel very special.
We were immediately offered drinks and given a food menu to look through for our starters and mains. There was a wide variety to choose from especially with our wide variety of dietary requirements including vegan, meat free and dairy free. The waiters were exceptional and we were served very quickly however we weren't ever feeled rushed. What made it extra special was that the waiters put there own touch on their service and told us stories and did 'magic tricks' which was fun entertainment.
The food was reasonably priced for the quality you get and the portion sizes were so great we even got to take it home for lunch the next day. We ordered dessert and they accommodated for the dietary requirements for swapping certain items with other items and the cherry on top of the cake was them bringing two pieces of baklava with a massive candle with the staff singing my mum happy birthday.
We were said goodbye to the same way as we were greeted with, a handshake and the door opened for us with a friendly smile from the waiter. In addition parking wasn't difficult as the road opposite the street allows for parking after 6:30pm so as long as you have a later dinner, you are good. The only negative I could think of was that they recommend ordering your starters and mains together as it's easier for the kitchen, which is annoying if you don't know what you want but this is really nitpicking here.
We would definitely come again and recommend to others. Great restaurant to add to our...
Read morePerfection is the only way to describe the food and service here! We eat out regularly and it’s rare in the 12 months of dating have we both agreed that this restaurant warrants 5 stars on all accounts! I can honestly say it was worth every Penny! Compliments to the chef and the owner, who was also very attentive too. I am gluten free so he helped me to avoid only a few dishes on the menu that I couldn’t eat! He said they needed to update their menu so it made it clear which were gf and which were not - and that would be my only thing, I’d say was room for improvement. The waitress was absolutely lovely too and we do hope she gets the extra £6 tip we put on top of the bill when we paid by card? The meal was £61 which for a starter, two mains - portions were huge plus came with a big bowl of salad and two Guinness, I would say is very reasonable considering how well the food was done! In fact, we took home a doggy bag as there was so much of the mixed grill. The lamb chop in it was a really decent size, none of those skinny ones most restaurants give you, there was plenty of meat on this! They offered me chips or sauté veggies instead of the rice as it wasn’t gluten free, then brought me both! My boyfriend had the seafood casserole dish (it begins with Bou….??) and again was plentiful and tasty! The atmosphere in there was buzzy and for a Wednesday night they were booked out! We were lucky to get in as walk ins. We are looking forward to returning to this very local five star restaurant...
