We held our daughter's Christening at The Drill last weekend and it couldn't have gone better.
Kim, Wayne and the staff were fantastically accommodating. We had the end section of the pub and many people to fill it. There was an area set up for the food and tables set for the cake; they even provided a cake stand for our use. We had an outside area for our own use, which I'm sure we would have utilised more had the weather been nicer, though some of our younger guests had a little run around in it. There was a TV screen for the rugby so the men of our group were very pleased. We also had our own toilets to use - although there was a slight problem with the water, nevertheless, Wayne and Kim came up with a solution in no time. The food was exceptional. The team obviously know their stuff with regards to food preparation as the hot food was brought out and refreshed throughout the two hour window they allocated for the food to be out. The sandwiches were delicious and there was more than enough food for our guests.
Overall, we can't thank the management and staff of The Drill enough. They really took the stress out of the day for me and it was so simple to book and arrange. We have since had many calls from our friends and family saying what a fantastic day it was and how pleased they were with the...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusting service. Came here after years of never coming. My family was local so decided to come here. All night we ordered vodka / rum with mixers. The mixers was flat all night. About a quarter of the way through the night we told the bar staff the mixers were flat, (baring in mind we thought this all night). The bar maid immediately insisted that they wasn’t flat. I asked her to try a taster and after 10 seconds of her pouring they was flat. I said that the drink was flat and with my friend, she shoved her hand in my face and said I’m not talking to you, and continued to talk to my friend saying “im not talking / I’m servicing him”, even though me and my friend was together. She continued to say “I’m the landowners mother”, like this is acceptable behaviour regardless. All we tried to inform her that the mixer was flat. She was so rude it was actually unbelievable. Saying that she would get us chucked out, just because we said the mixer was flat. She said that the drink was not flat and suggested that we pay extra for the bottled drink. This should not have been the outcome due to flat drink, that we had to pay more than necessary. This honestly left a very horrible tasted in after...
Read moreIf I could give 0 I would! I’ve been to The Drill before with friends and on Friday I witnessed something that as a customer I found totally disgusting. There was a group of women and a some men who had hired an area to celebrate their friend who had just been given the all clear for cancer. I knew someone in the party so I know that the group had previously used the venue for end of term drinks and leaving parties; over the years giving the venue a lot of business. On Friday there was a commotion whereby the landlord demonstrated aggression towards several members of the party and even attempted to throw them out because they questioned him. The party was celebrating overcoming cancer which is something to celebrate and although paying for a private area and food, some of the issue came from the lack of food where by the party was told they could not take it or have it despite paying it because the staff had failed to serve guests the food within a good time frame. I’m totally disgusted by what I saw and would suggest to avoid this place if this is the empathy and humility...
