We went here for a family meal on my birthday. We had a great time with my 12 year old son and 2 year old daughter. There were lots of books and board games to keep my little girl occupied, they deserve thanks for that. We paid £81 for three main courses, one chips, two desserts, one soft drink and a bottle of sauvignon blanc white wine. The portions were quite adequate. All the food and desserts were delicious. Also, I'm sorry I forgot her name, but there was a friendly and polite waiter, I would like to thank him for that. We will definitely come back here again.

Unplanned visit during a quiet time. The food was very nice and large portioned. The lamb stifado was just what I needed on a cold autumnal day. The toilets were accessed through an old telephone box, which was funny. After the bread and butter pudding I was stuffed to the gills :) The ice cream could be a bit better quality. But it still worked with the desert.

Pub is actually good, nicely arranged and decorated, lovely garden outside, all good for drinks but… food is absolutely DREADFUL, just avoid at all costs. We left the place 5 minutes after our dishes arrived, picture speaks by itself. Staff is as talkative as the Halloween skeletons

Im not one to leave reviews and i really do hope this goes public, its long winded but bare with me people! Theres a laundrette a few doors down from this establishment and after christmas and being so busy running a pub myself i decided this evening would be my chance to get it all my washing done. I had a hour to kill so decided that me and my child would go in to the george for dinner. As soon as i went through the door at 5pm this evening i greeted the bar man with a hello, happy new year the usual, i proceeded to say myself and child where going to have a meal and explained bout the laundreete, being my usual bubbly self with a smile and full of chat as running a pub this rubs off. I was told immediately kitchen is closed and its a private function where i was lead back to the door id just literally stepped through. I was shocked and upset to be shut down so frankly and basically told to leave. You obviously thought i was a traveller and are trained to think fast on your feet in these situations, this was quite obvious as there would be no other explanation as it was very apparent there was no private function taken place or going to take place. To turn a women and a 7 year old boy away from a bar when all i simply wanted was to have a meal, this is apalling. But never the less Even if i was a travelling women with my child in toe why would you discriminate against anyone? I think this was discusting behaviour. I run a pub and anyone to come through the doors of the copper jug be them black white indian pink purple or blue any race or any cultur or breed would be welcomed with open arms. Your a disgrace of a establishment and should be ashamed of your selves and should move with times and take your weird heads out the dark ages. I want to also add that the pub across the road wishing well welcomed me and my child where we sat for the hour and had a coke and a bag of crisps , I couldnt help but wonder as i left the wishing well and passed your pub going back to laundreete, my mind boggled thinking why the private function was so small and only consisted of 3 guys playing pool and a guy sat at the bar. I did go in and let the charming bar man know how discusting i thought his actions where. So all im saying any one looking to go here please keep in mind if your face doesn't fit it will be for sure a private...

I feel compelled to leave this review due to the astonishing response from the owners at a review they received from a guest on Sunday …. The fact that u mention you quote ‘loathe’ to even allow the booking is odd as when we arrived we were told there was no record of a booking and why on earth you would accept a booking from people who you described as ‘racist’ and ‘threatening ‘ seems odd unless these descriptions are of course a malicious lie to cast doubt on a bad review in which case you yourself did give a full refund for the two orders that came to the table raw! As far as the guest being aggressive and rude from the start is a little rich as the male staff that served us is very well known for his rude attitude towards customers …I also noted that you mentioned that you “knew some of the our guest had personal issues they were going through seem an odd response as the beginning we were described as racist and threatening ?? And yet it’s only a bad review that’s led you to refuse service and not the aforementioned description…. Be under no illusion nobody rang to apologise for any behaviour the fact u feel the need to lie speaks volumes of your own guilt , and to have such an unprofessional response to a review in my opinion shows an utter lack of professionalism especially in a hospitality sector I have scrolled back and it’s not the first time such a scathing response has been posted for a “bad” review if you had put one tenth of the effort you put into that response Into your hospitality things may have been quite different however being a local and seeing how empty the pub is on a daily basis maybe this review just stung a little to much……? as a simple sorry you had this experience we can only apologise we do have a five star rating we are proud of this is a one off and we apologise would be the normal response but a response of that calibre filled with out right lies maybe it’s a case of the lady doth protest to much ps your Christmas decor was amazing !

And one more point the so called bereaved family that supposedly double booked the area we requested never showed up from 3pm until gone 9 when we left so just another lie in...

Ate here on Sunday with my family and got a severe case of food poisoning after eating the Roast Turkey dinner. The reason for zero stars for food!

Once we left around 9.30pm to drop other family members I started to become very sick and this has continued for 2 days.

Two others who were with us were served fish and chips, the fish was raw inside. When we raised this they denied it was raw (when it clearly was) saying it was hot when it left kitchen - we did get our money back on these two dishes.

We had specifically asked to be seated at the back of the pub when we booked this was confirmed twice over the phone and on arrival we were told it was booked for other people. We were in the pub from 3pm - 9.30 and nobody sat in the area we had originally booked, and when we were leaving they had cleared the area away which was very odd because it was clear it wasn’t booked and that they would not accommodate our ask.

I will be suggesting that the kitchen be checked for cleanliness & Hygiene. The service was ok, but is quite a hostile pub many times no one at the bar serving at all - ordering was very awkward and took about an hour for 14 people to order food and it’s a shame as a family we have been going here for decades and we will not be going back here again.

My advice is go for a drink, and DO NOT eat here unless you want to be served something raw or will make you very ill . I expect this review will not be received well by the owners as they often are argumentative if you complain or comment about anything.

(Edit) see below response from The George Pub - is 100% lies. Please view other negative reviews left to see similar responses and as I suggested this would not be received well but I did not expect such a venomous response. I suppose making up shameful and personal lies about your customers to make you look better is easier than actually apologising or improving your service. To give any patron food poisoning is disgraceful regardless of the other points I mentioned in my initial review. A full complaint has been submitted to Brent council for food safety. I look forward...
