Being Merlin pass holders, and living in Derbyshire. We visit London and the surrounding areas often to visit various Merlin attractions. Which this weekend was Chessington World of Adventure. Being a 3 hour drive each way from home, we always stay over at a local hotel and try new places for food.

This weekend was special. It was my sons 8th birthday and there were quite a few of us. Being in Chessington, and having not visited before, I pre-booked a table for 8 at The North Star. Using the special requirements feature on the booking request, I requested balloons and a birthday banner. I didn't hear from the venue saying they couldn't do this. So I assumed they did.

Instead, we arrived at 7pm to be shown to 4 dirty tables with dirty plates on them, and told someone would clear them soon. We waited 15 minutes, still nothing. I asked again and after some discussion behind the bar, someone went over to wipe and clear them.

We all ordered food via the app. We waited almost an hour for food to start coming out. Then some did, then a while later some more arrived, then we had missing starters and side dishes that never did arrive. One of our party had poppadoms presented to him after finishing his curry ! Shambles.

I feel this was a very, "Clicky," venue. Locals were swiftly served, our outside accents were quickly detected and we came last for everything. Even a round of drinks ordered via the app didn't arrive without asking a member of staff after half an hour.

I genuinely couldn't recommend this pub on this basis and would urge travellers and families to look for other...

We had a good experience here previously but unfortunately our last visit was not that good.

We fancied a Sunday roast and remembered this place. It was 'late'at 16.30 but hoped for something nice. On arrival, we were served our drinks quite fast and politly. The pub was nearly empty with aorund 10 people dotted around.

We sat in the restaurant area and looked at the menu. I did fancy the duo roast. Which is a great idea for meat lovers such as myself. A choice of beef or turkey was the other options. Well vegan option, but naaaaa.

Everything dotted around said to use the ap, which we both had. But not used for a while aso had to go through the usual updates. The fastest updater got to pay, haha.

When we did get onto the app only to find out, only turkey was available 😔 so we both chose that and some pigs in blankets. Spoiler alert a table that came in after us managed to order beef grrr.

The food was ok, although the roast potatoes were very hard in the middle, we didn't receive the jug of gravey, and the yorkies were frozen (not an exaggeration) at the bottom.

There was no one around to let them know about these issues, and no check backs were done. It's definitely a sham, but we will try again...

I’ve not eaten at this pub but just popped in for on a couple of occasions for a drink.I’m basing my rating on what I’ve seen. Guinness is well kept and the staff were extremely friendly and efficient. I could not help myself coming on here to comment on some of the negative feedback.Makes my blood boil when people come on here to criticise such things as decor, chairs & a dated toilet area. They have short memories.Covid caused many pubs to shut down & were some of the most affected businesses of all. Many were unable to retain staff & struggled for that reason when business resumed. Many will need a long time before added exspence.Just like the refurb of your home you wanted but one of you had no work for a year or 2!The areas are clean, you are not eating at the Ritz! You want cheap so accept some compromises! If your food is not as hot as you would like, simply ask them to heat it or re serve it.you’ll only have to wait a couple of minutes.Don’t put up a 1 star rating for such minor issues as this could deter hundreds of customers throughout the year.Be better human beings! I hope o speak for the manager & have said all that he would like to...

Lovely staff. Chairs falling apart. Great for a drink, not for food. Food was awful, waited ages, despite it not being busy, for the wrong food, food that did arrive was grim. Old brown lettuce leaves on the salad, carrots for the roast were rubbery and not roasted - they were a second thought as were forgotten on the plate, burgers that were wrong were clearly re-presented on the same plate due to the mess, not ideal for those with allergies, garlic bread was clearly left out under hot plate as was solid as a rock when put on table, all of us had waited too long so ate what he could but was not worth the money. Table next to us left as they were so appalled by our food. We were offered a round of drinks given the mess around with continuously bringing our the wrong food which did soften the blow.

Having booked a table at least a month ago, was upset to find that although one had been reserved for us, it was placed in an area that was already designated for use by a club!!! So we would not have had room to eat or hear ourselves talk. After much thought a space was created for us as we were a party of 6.The pub was very busy last night. This is not the first time that we have had problems after booking tables. But a big shout out to the acting manager Jackie who sorted the problem and looked after us. She is always very good. This pub is the only one in our immediate area serving food and it is a shame that they have these issues. Staff are very nice though.

I’ve visited this pub quite a few times in recent months with a close friend and enjoyed it every time. There’s a wide variety of drinks available and a food menu with options to accommodate most people. The food is nice, reasonably priced and the service is good. There’s an abundance of seating both indoors and outside in the lovely beer garden, with some of the indoor seating worn and tattered. A parking lot is also available with disabled access into the pub. I’ll definitely be visiting again in the near future and would recommend to everyone in the area.
