Thank you so much to all the staff at The White Cross Inn. We had a whole area sectioned off. We were allowed to set up before and they helped with organising the space as well. The staff were attentive to our every request, and throughout they cleared and tided tables, so it always looked clean and tidy. They had a great playlist in the background. The staff and chef made sure the food was always looking lovely, they rotated and changed food trays often, and the food was amazing, everybody commented on how lovely the food was. unfortunately I didn't take any pictures, but the fruit display was a work of art. Thank you all once again. I would absolutely recommend this venue for an event.

Great family pub which I have now been going to for the past four years. Since the pub had new owners the food has improved 100%. The staff are warm and welcoming and don't rush you,and if they have time will spend more time chatting to you. Part of the pub goes back to the 17th century with log or coal fire place.Lovely and cosy in winter or Christmas time.plus there are no games or music machines. Great for going with friends and family for a quite get togethers. They now have a wonderful outside sitting and eating area, which was beautiful during last summer heatwave.

We Visited The white Cross Inn today the car park wasn't very full but we thought it might just be down to the fact that it's half term and that most people would be away on holiday but after our visit I think it more the fact that the white Cross Inn isn't a very nice place to visit the landlord had a right attitude the food was disappointing the toilets were dirty the whole place needs more family friendly also the landlord really needs to learn some people skills

If I could give O stars, I would. Attended as a group of around 8 with a new born baby and some toddlers. The atmosphere was very cold and intense as soon as we walked in. Most of the group were Caucasian and also consisted of 3 mixed race people and myself an African Woman. There were also mixed race children. Upon entering I felt as though all eyes were on me as if I was an alien and this was confirmed by others in the group who experienced the same. There was only about 6 people in the pub and when trying to put chairs together so that we could all sit together, we were shouted at across the bar and told that for groups of over 6 people we had to book online. The pub was half empty and a very rainy day and one round of drinks for all of us would have probably been £100 and as it was a birthday meet up, we would have purchased several. The pub is in the middle of nowhere and on a rainy day they decided to treat us with hostility and not feel welcome at all. Thankfully an elderly couple offered us their table as it was larger than the one we had acquired. I then went up to the bar to get a round of drinks and the price of the drinks had been changed a couple of times. I repeated the total to the bartender and was greeted with a face of disgust. Staff continued to treat our group as not welcomed and unfortunately I cannot believe I have contributed financially to such an awful establishment. The rest of the group also felt the same and did not have pleasant encounters with staff. I felt stereotyped and a victim of racism in 2024! I was not the only one who experienced this and my mixed race friends and also Caucasian friends immediately noticed this so it is not an isolated incident. Children were with us and to be treated like this with them present is absolutely abhorrent. It can only make me wonder if it would have been worse if it was just us adults. To be made to feel that you are not welcome or seen lesser than just because the colour of your skin is absolutely vile. I hope you continue this behaviour and lose business as there is no place for racists in society. To be made to feel unwelcome in a pub just on the outskirts of London as a British born individual who is also a Nurse and contributes to society by helping saving lives on a daily basis is disgusting. I am glad that my Caucasian friends absolutely noticed this straight away and suggested we left immediately. We would have rather walked in the stormy rain with no umbrellas than spend a second longer in that establishment. To behave like this in 2024 is absolutely revolting when we all bleed the same. The elderly couple who kindly offered us their table had seen the look of disappointment on our face and asked us not too leave. To treat an individual differently due to their skin colour which they cannot change is very vile. I hope and pray no one has to experience this ever again in this...

6/9/13. myself and my family visited the white cross for the first time last night (Friday 06/09/13) we had a lovely time. we were greeted by a lovely barmaid very polite and friendly. we ordered our drinks and sat on the table by the fire which was really cosy we placed our food order with the same barmaid (who seemed to be the only one serving everyone, unlike the others behind the bar) my young daughter thought it great that we got a numbered wooden spoon to take to our table and asked does she need to call bingo when our number was called the barmaid laughed and told my daughter she could she then asked my daughter and son if they would like to play with the games or do some colouring which they did. our food arrived looking lovely although it tasted better than it looked very nice indeed. I would definitely recommend my friends and family go to the white cross the food is delicious and although the other bar people seemed lazy and un approachable the one barmaid think her name was Jodie or something like that made our whole experience very enjoyable she was warm ,helpful bubbly very polite and all the customers seem to like her. she was always busy but took time out to make sure all her customers were happy and that is one of the reasons we will definitely be going back. thank you white cross for a...

We booked a table for a family meal here on a Friday night. When we arrived we were shown where to sit and there was only one menu on the table but six of us so we had to scrabble around getting them from other tables. When we had decided we had to go to the bar to get the staffs attention and they told us we had to order at the bar. When we said there was six of us they handed us a notepad and told us to write it down then come back to the bar! I wouldn't have minded if they were rushed off their feet but it was empty in the pub and the staff were twiddling their thumbs. When we had written our orders down and went back to the bar they then told us they didn't have two of the meals we wanted, thats the kind of information we could have done with in advance. The final disappointment was the food itself, the haddock was blatantly a cheap frozen one and chilli con carne was out of a can. On top of that they were charging premium prices for bad quality food, I was amazed at how expensive it was.

The most annoying this is that we are local and this pub used to be good a few years ago, I keep giving it another chance but won't be going back again after this. If you are considering going here for a meal my advice is...
