oh dear what a shame i'll have to change my usual haunt for a catch up with my BFF. We have been meeting at this pub for months and never had an issue until last night...... Our waitress was very pleasant and gave us a choice of tables. Service was timely. Ordered two Hunter chicken, which we have had before, unfortunaltely my BFF's had a funny taste so she didnt eat it. Well done Tigers Head for taking it off the bill, 10/10. We decided to pay by cash, how retro, the bill came to £28.98. we had £20 each. We asked the waitress to take £17 from each giving her a tip of £5.02 and us £3 each change (keeping up). She came back with the £5.02 in change. I told her that was wrong as her tip was now in the till. Enter Emily, the surly cook. As she told me that was the right change, i tried to explain what we were doing so her waitress could get a tip but she shut me down with "Madame let me speak", with a tight grimace i did let her speak, then she storms off to rectify the issue. After several minutes and discussions at the bar with other collegues, i joined them and tried to explain again what we were trying to do. Only to be told to "take a seat Madame". No Emily i will not, you are making a mountain out of a mole hill and all im trying to do is give your waitress a tip. I asked for our cash back and we would pay by card and sort out the tip another way. With much huffing and puffing Emily gave us our cash, we gave the waitress her tip and tried to give a tip to Emily but she felt her customer service was fine and no advice on the matter was needed. Wrong Emily. You are the front of house for the pub and if your having a bad day go home but do not take it out on two ladies who only wanted a catch up, a quiet meal and to leave the loevley waitress a tip. Looks like The Bull will get our patronage now.

Some girl friends and I visited on Monday. We were welcomed to our table and promptly offered drinks. After pondering the menu and placing the order we were then told what we wanted wasn't available and had sold out. This would have been less frustrating if we'd been told what was out of stock before be bothered choosing. Unfortunately my friends first choice and second choice wasn't available. The same friend ordered a ciabatta and chips. It looked nice until the chips came out with a hair on them on closer inspection. My friend notified the waitress who although seemed pleasant didn't apologize. We had eaten our dinner and the replacement dish still hasn't arrived. We followed this up with the managed who found the new dish but again no apology from the waitress. My friends were from uni days and we hadn't seen each other for a while so wanted to make the most of our time and ordered a dessert. I ordered a mini brownie and tea. This was well below par in presentation. The size of the dessert wasn't the issue. It was served on what looked like a small saucer...I'd expect maybe a bit of icing dusting or a sprig of mint, but looked very bare..pic attached. It's a shame as I love the location of the pub and do usually enjoy visits its a shame this visit let them down.

Went for lunch today and was superbly impressed. Service was polite, attentive and pleasant. Food was great, chickpea curry was a winner. Brownie with clotted cream ice cream was amazing, a must try. Went last evening with booked table after recommendation. Our friends regularly take their lovely doggie with them, but my first time. Were given a table next to the doors leading to the garden, good atmosphere. Service was slow, we did not mind as we enjoyed a great bottle of french wine. Girls serving us were friendly and polite. 4 of us went for different starters and mains- I had courgettes and peper stack, super green salad with halloumi, apart from halloumi being dry and cold I was pleased with my choices. Where my other half and our friends were not very satisfied if I have to be honest. Meat in their opinion was dry and chewy, where our friend ordered medium rare- received a well done. The sea treats they had some were undercooked and some overcooked and very very dry. I was the only one having desert- I've chosen the salted caramel sunday and I can say with was simply great, combination of all worked really well and satisfied my sweet tooth. Would most likely return again and give them another go, probably for their roast as most pp are recommended it

We visited the Tiger’s Head last night, we were initially greeting by a lovely lady who although we were early showed us to our table (this lady also finalised our bill and we found her to be really friendly and helpful)

However we found the waitress we had serving our table to be quite unpleasant. My partner is pregnant and requested the price of the non-alcoholic wine (price wasn’t listed on the list) the reply was “I’ll check but why don’t you just have a spritzer, it’s less alcohol” That’s completely untrue You shouldn’t be suggesting someone to drink alcohol when they’ve asked for a non-alcoholic drink, you do not know their circumstances

Of course this is forgivable however when it came to ordering deserts I asked if she could check if the cheesecake had nuts in (I have a nut allergy) the waitress became very aggressive and shouted that I should have told her about my allergy at the beginning of the meal. As someone who has eaten at the restaurant before I was confident that what I ordered (calamari and beef pie) doesn’t have nuts therefore felt there was no need to disclose information regarding my allergy until pudding where I wasn’t sure on the ingredients. The waitress stormed off, brought back a huge folder, slammed it down on the table and said rudely “I can’t advise you, look and see” and walked off again.

She then informed the manager of our discussion, I was then taken away from our table by the manager to talk what had happened. Initially the manager took a “telling off” approach towards me, the customer, until I explained my side of the encounter. Whilst the manager then provided our table with free deserts to apologise and served our table for the rest of the meal to avoid the awkward atmosphere between the table and the waitress concerned, I really do feel the way I was treated was appalling and if I am honest,...

We booked a table for 7 guests which was very well placed and was not close to other tables. The meal was booked to celebrate my fathers birthday as well as my own.

The member of staff who seated us came back shortly after we were seated and took our drinks order. Another member of staff then came to ask if we ordered our drinks a few minutes later we said yes and she walked away with attitude, and we were infact ready to prefer our meals and had to wait to order.

We ordered our starters and mains, some of which were unavailable, which is understandable. When our starters were delivered both mine and my partners barbecue Korean chicken strips were cold.

Once the starter plates were taken away, we waited a fairly long time for our mains. When we asked the member of staff serving us, she was quite impatient and her attitude was a bit rude. All the food turned up shortly after, my dad, and my partners food were both delivered on cold plates, my meal was okay my brothers meal however which was lasagna was burnt and it obviously spent too long in the oven or reheating oven. It was obvious when it was delivered that it was overcooked. It was replaced but no apology was really given. My partner asked for salt and pepper and member of staffs attitude was quite rude.

We have always had good experiences at the Tigers head. Last night was a severe disappointment. We were intending on having dessert, but even my 15-year-old was so fed up with the speed of service that once we left we stopped off at McDonald’s for McFlurrys because it was much faster!! And we were all fed up with the member of staff’s attitude.

Such a shame as my parents were really looking forward...
