Great local cafe that serves high quality food with great service at a good price with one of the beds breakfasts in town.

FOOD we usually go here for breakfast and have come around 10/15 times over the past two years and the food is consistently good. Some call outs: full English (veggie) has all the standards except for the meat. However their veggie sausages are amazing. Usually you'll get something frozen bland or both. Not sure if they make it but it's as good a veggie sausage as I've had. French toast - one of the best I've had. Thick brioche cooked to perfection. Not too soft or soggy. mixed grill - a mix of lamb and chicken kebabs. Seasoned well with an excellent chilli sauce. One of my favourites in terms of a Turkish grill. they consistently have some of the best avocado toast I've eaten. Not too ripe not to hard. Perfectly creamy.

Other wise they also have a solid selection of fresh smoothies and do a mean chai latte.

The one knock on the food are the milkshakes. They are good but have sometimes found them to be a little too watery. When I mentioned that they immediately gave me another with more ice cream.

SERVICE overall great service. The owner is a nice guy and so are most of the other servers. You have a couple that seem to be students and can't be bothered but overall can't complain. They are quick to serve and food never takes too long. If there is ever an issue they will also be quick to rectify it.

As a bonus they have limited outdoor seating which is a plus in the summer when out with our dog.

Overall it's a nice cafe that is good value for money. Perhaps not as trendy as the neighbouring bulls head but beats it out on food hands down. Highly recommend this place if you live in...

Front of house staff great. People who are supposed to be running things behind the scenes, poor. Sunday morning. Order eggs on toast. Message comes back No White Bread for the toast. Not being in the mood for brown or granary, I change the order to Pain au chocolat. No, out of those too. Opted for the cinnamon whirl. Enjoyed the coffee. About 15 mins later and we're just about to leave and as my companion went to pay, a plate of scrambled eggs on toast turns up. (brown bread.) I send it away saying that it wasn't for me. The people inside send the unfortunate server back to me with the plate again, and I have to explain the story to her. Quite what her manager thought I was going to do with the order when presented with it for a second time is beyond me.... Previous visits to this and other branches seem to suggest that stock control is not their forte, so be be prepared for 'out of stock' and other mishaps...

Well, that was disappointing @WalnutsCafe I asked for a Vegan Breakfast you firstly bring me a full MEAT breakfast, after I get the "correct" breakfast it was still wrong.. after specifying I need a vegan breakfast (due to allergies) you gave me halloumi cheese and forgot my Veggie sausage, this was brought to me AFTER I had finished my breakfast, the only thing on my plate that was hot was your microwaved beans.. I'm sure the veggie sausage had cheese in? I informed a staff member and her response was to tell a manager earlier surely I should be asked if my food is OK? It would have been nice to tell someone about my food but unfortunately all your members of staff stand around talking to one another and regular customers. Pettswood Walnuts was so much better, at least they...

Good reviews so popped in for late lunch with my daughter. Usually I go to the Petts wood one. First impressions disappointing; not as nicely decorated as PW one. It was quiet so took a table at the back and waited for someone to bring a menu. Why didn't someone show us to a table and give us menus when we arrived? My sparkling water arrived with no ice or lemon. We ordered 2 caesar salads one with salmon 1 with chicken. Sorry but not as good as PW! Chicken not as nicely cooked and the croutons were hard, thought I might lose a filling. Salmon was OK. Whole experience of staff and service was that it wasn't as slick and efficient as the other branch in petts wood. Disappointing.

Visited this cafè yesterday and, despite the extensive menu and friendly staff, was a bit disappointed. I ordered the Bangers & Mash and the mashed potato was clumpy and flavourless, the gravy was thin/watery and lacking in flavour (I wouldn’t really call it gravy - especially not the kind of gravy you put on sausages & mash). There was also barely any of it so I had to ask for more. My friends ordered the Steak Pies and again, they used the same gravy and barely any of it, and the pies were thick and soggy with the meat inside being a bit dry. The English breakfast however was good.

This is a lovely cafe situated in the prime position within a parade of independent shops. The menu is varied and tempting! The service has always been great and the staff accommodating, attentive and friendly. The fully loaded fry up and omelettes are the go to choice for us and the coffees are delicious. One of the best things about Walnuts is we have enjoyed every visit without feeling rushed. It is vibrant, welcoming, perfect outside in the sunshine and cosy indoors on greyer days. A lovely little escape from reality and would fully recommend.
