Singapore Garden — Restaurant in Malvern Hills

Ordered a takeaway, got there early so paid for food on card which was £69. Decided to have a pint while we waited, was told there is a minimum spend of £10 for cards. Reminded time we’ve just spend £69 on food, if it’s such an issue, refund me for the food, add on the drinks and then I’ll pay for it all together. Was told no, and that to spend under £10 there would be 50p surcharge.

Firstly, Mastercard and Visa don’t allow merchants who use their services to set minimum spends so they’re going against the contracts they have signed with these businesses.

Secondly, adding surcharges for not meeting a minimum spend is illegal.

I used to be a regular customer at this restaurant. After 3 months break we had chicken curry for take away today. I'm really disappointed with the customer service and the quality of food. After struggling for attention of 2 young girls chating at the till to be served I've ordered chicken curry for takeaway. Nobody let me know that I'll have to wait 25min. I'm ok with that but I think that customer should be notified about awaiting time over 10min. After 30min. food still wasn't ready. We've used this place for takeaways a few times, had been very good, spicy but balanced. The last meal though, was ridiculously hot, way, way too much chilli. Don't get me wrong, we all like a bit of Singapore fire but this was off the charts, insane heat..I'm reluctant to write them off completely on the basis of one bad experience, not least because we don't have many other local options, but it has put me off, just not overly keen on shelling out £75 for food that almost hurts the inside...
