The disgusting attitude towards a disabled person and his partner is unacceptable and the pitiful reply as more to be desired. A family members experience from this establishment towards a disabled person: "I never write things like this. I’m incredibly lucky in that, I don’t come across this sort of behaviour very often in my life. When I do, it’s usually not worth writing about as many other blind people have written about it far more eloquently than I. However, I feel my experience today really does need to be shared and I would thank you for reading. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!! O’NEILLS HUNGRY JOE’S Came to Manchester for my girlfriend to attend a professional dance class from 9h30- 11h50. As a blind person I asked her to leave me in a nearby cafe so I might get on with some work while she was doing the class. The food was basic and the coffee was instant but the staff were appalling, although seeming polite at first. Upon my girlfriend's return to collect me after her class, as I had requested, the staff were abusive towards her and myself as they felt it was "irresponsible" of her to "leave him on his own as he might have fallen over or wet himself" and "they weren't insured" to "look after" me. I'm 24 years old, I have a degree, my own business, a car and a very happy, respectful relationship. The level of disrespect shown to myself as a disabled person and my girlfriend (not carer, as she was called by the staff) is unacceptable in any city of the UK in this century. We are disabled PEOPLE, not objects, not pets, not victims, not children and most of all not a nuisance to anyone. This place of business and most of all these uneducated people need to learn this, as they have lost any future custom from myself and everyone I know through their damaging attitudes and ignorant mindsets towards disabled people. An atrocious experience from start to finish! My hands are still shaking and I’m still shocked and enraged at this treatment. I feel patronised, humiliated and most of all incensed that my girlfriend (a truly wonderful, caring and compassionate individual who was only ever given me love, patience and kindness) was treated so poorly and worst of all judged by people who do not know her, me, us or indeed any disabled people apparently. I do not feel out of line for saying that Manchester should be ashamed of this...
