i had booked a table for the rufford yesterday for my birthday, i specifically rang and asked if they'd provide the birthday girl with anything special and to which they offered a free slice of cake and to mention when ordering. i mentioned to a guy behind the bar when ordering food and he said it was fine but when it came to ordering desserts and choosing the free slice we we're then told by a different member of staff that it wasn't allowed. the guy who served us at this point was not at all helpful and quite rude infact when we explained what the guy on the phone had said, he told us that i wasn't actually told i could get a free slice of cake, humiliating myself as he in fact DID say so. also one member of the group ordered a veggie curry and was told soon after that they didn't have any, surely curries are made to order not just to warm up. the rude guy behind the bar suggested to the vegetarian member of the group other options of veggie meals such as 'scampi or fish and chips' baring in mind they include meat. he had no customer service skills, communication skills or common food knowledge. unfortunately he wasn't wearing a name tag to mention him. i myself had the 3 slider burgers which ended up more of a meatball form and hardly edible. cheap and cheerful if you order something decent but won't be returning...
Read moreDoggie breakfast with Santa. Went today, didn't expect much as some places have been dreadful (Rufford Abbey last year, I'm talking about you most of all....), the staff here were great, making a big fuss of all the animals and sorting everything out quickly and easily. Our dog got his own breakfast (2 sausage, bacon, scrambled egg and hash brown !!!) then got to meet Santa and had a goody bag of treats. Well worth the price for our dog and us humans, we met up with some friends and family, had a nice breakfast and couldn't fault it. For many people, their pets are as much a member of the family as their children, it's nice to be able to bring them to friendly places where we can relax enjoy a breakfast together. It was a great morning, in all we had 5 dogs between us and they all loved their breakfast and goodie bags, good on you for being dog friendly and entering into the spirit of things, we all felt it was great fun as well as enjoying the food and drink. Certainly something we'll look to do again, thank you for making it a...
Read moreMy cod was pink and tasted strange and there wasn’t that much of it. A very inferior product for the price. No one came to check that out meal was ok, so we had to take it back to the bar. This was replaced with an alternative meal, but my party had finished their meal, so I ate alone. There was also a dog barking and yapping on the table next to us. It was also sat on the chair with its paws on the table, which was highly unhygienic. One couple moved tables as the noise was very loud. I don’t mind dogs in pubs as long as they’re not disturbing me and are keep on the floor. They eventually took the dog outside and it was running up to little children and scaring them. Although it seemed friendly, I was as concerned that this shouldn’t have been allowed. No one came to wipe the table down after they left because no one was checking the dog was behaving itself. A couple sat down to eat at the same table after they’d left. The only positive, was the friendly waitress. I shan’t be returning anytime soon as better hygiene needs...
