The Red Gate Inn probably conjures up images of a traditional British pub, with a red door/gate entrance, smokers outside and a musty inside atmosphere. However think again. This is actually a bar and restaurant. We visited the restaurant as part of a leaving do for a colleague and were pleasantly surprised. The owners have fused traditional pub with haute cuisine. All the food is made fresh on the premises. For example the Chicken Schnitzel is made with real roasted chicken, and fried in bread crumbs. The chips are essentially the home made version, browner than the chip shop variety and also softer. The desserts are of a very high standard and made on the premises, including the ice cream. Read moreGot to admit I never heard of it but I do live in Sheffield, it was my sister who told me about it, got to say the place was beautiful inside was very clean, had a lovely girl waiting on, the food that was served to the other three looked and by all accounts tasted beautiful and was hot, I myself fancied fish & chips with mushy peas, and of course 2 slices of bread an butter ( large fish) now I do have a good appetite but when it came there was 2 fish stacked the fish an the chips an peas was hot the fish was beautiful it fact it all was did I manage to eat it all ! Just did make a couple of chip butties, would I go to this place again, Absolutely all credit to where it's due. Well done to all had a great day....
Read moreWent for only our second time, but must say we thought that The Carnarvon at Skegby was good. But this place leaves it way behind. Took our 2 young children with us also. They had chicken burgers, the chicken was gorgeous perfectly cooked. My wife had Steak pie n Veg she said it was gorgeous. I had The Salmon Meal, must say the Best Fish Meal I've ever had. Also the Service was Excellent. Highly recommended and many thanks to all Staff members...
