Visited the ellora on Christmas Eve with my partner and some friends, this ruined what we planned to be a lovely night. Arrived well within the opening hours to an empty restaurant, this seemed to annoy the staff. We were a group of 6 and the staff attempted to sit us on a table of 4. We asked if they had tables booked in (which they didn’t) and highlighted there wasn’t a person in the place so why should we sit on a 4, to that the response was ‘because it’s less to clean for us, and it’s not fair ‘. We moved tables after persistently requesting to be moved and half way through our meal a member of the staff approached our table and asked why we had sat there (in a frustrated tone). We explained we couldn’t sit on a 4 and he walked off saying we were unfair. When the bill came over I spoke with the same member of staff to let him know his actions were not acceptable, his words were ‘I’m not bothered’. I then stated I’d never come back and his answer again was ‘I don’t care, I’m not bothered’ (in a frustrated tone). I asked for a manager as I was reluctant to pay my bill. The manager didn’t seem too bothered ether. The whole thing ruined my night and I still had to pay the full price for such a horrible experience. We have been coming here for over 5 years on a regular basis, we now use Lloyd’s Indian restaurant further down the high street who have acceptionable customer service. I DO NOT...
Read moreWow what a place….firstly I’ll add that we dropped into this establishment as a last minute search for some Indian cuisine. From the outside it looked enticing so we ventured in and was greeted by very friendly staff that were more than happy to seat us without a booking on a somewhat busy Friday night. As a super fan of Indian mixed grills this was go to choice on the menu that offered a huge variety of Indian foods. On top of that a chicken curry was ordered along with the usual naan bread and poppadoms etc. Firstly we were given the drinks menu and my choice was a 660ml bottle of cobra at £5.95 which I thought was a very reasonable price, also a bottle of white Sauvignon blanc at £19.50 so all in all not a bad total so far. The food came quick but not quick enough to hint that it was pre-heated so that’s always a bonus with me. My partner who has a nut allergy had amazing service when it came to the care for the requirements that she needs. The main was delicious and cooked to perfection, well presented and hit the spot. We decided not to go for the desert option although there was plenty to choose from as was the starters. All in all everything ticked every box for us on a meal that was for our anniversary. Knowle holds a jewel in the crown for beauty and this establishment holds the crown for Indian food. A special shout out to the manager Mashuk who made our visit...
