After being a loyal customer for over 10 years I’m sad to say I will never set foot in there again after what I experienced and witnessed today. The owner had not realised that my elderly mother had been waiting for quite a while for a table at the top of the shop without being directed to the tables that were free at the front. When she realised that there were other tables available she went to go and sit down but was gruffly instructed to wait by the owner, which she did (I was stood a little way back watching this unfold as I was waiting to buy bread) At his convenience he rudely pointed to the table and said ‘sit’. My mother replied quite politely that the table had been free for some time, at which point he exploded and said ‘Keep your comments to yourself I could do without them! Just sit down!’ We obviously left at once but my 73 year old mum was so shaken. She is the most polite woman and did nothing to deserve such disrespect. This is not the first time I’ve seen people being treated so rudely and it’s such a pity because it’s a sweet local bakery which is sadly let down by the man at the top. We went to another lovely shop in Knowle for lunch and the owner there made our hair curl with some of the stories of how people have been treated. I think we came...

Had the most hilariously bad service ever here! Although others with us said they had previously had excellent service here. We had a waiter who spoke no English and a waitress having the worst day ever who was in a terrible mood! After having to get up and chase someone to place an order we eventually got drinks. The "wine coolers" were just plastic buckets and no one seemed to be able to understand that we wanted ones that might actually keep the wine cool. We were told that they were "from the freezer" and it was just because the restaurant was warm, even tho they were literally empty plastic buckets lol! Our £9.95 "antipasti" starters were 2 brown bags of bread (admittedly delicious) and one tiny pot of olive oil left on the table. After half an hour we questioned this and then we were brought a tray of some meats as well. Finally got our pizzas which were good! Took us over 2 hours and about 6 times asking to get water for the table. There was obviously something going on behind the scenes as there was a bad atmosphere among the staff and much confusion going on. So all in all the food was good but the...

Very rude staff not all of them but most of them,

1st visit I was thinking I can help myself to the cakes on the table where the paper bags and the clippers are but a member of staff came and took everything out of my hands with very rude manners.

2nd visit, I grabbed something from the fridge to eat it in and they were so annoyed and I did not even know what the reason was.

3rd visit they wanted us to sit in the upper sitting area which was full so we asked to sit in the front, and again one member of staff was not happy about that, after we ate we went to buy some cakes and drinks and a member of staff ran after us accusing us with stealing and leaving the shop while actually my wife had her hands full with stuff and was making her way to the till.

I am glad I did not meet the owner as I have been told how nasty and rude he is but to be honest i wish this place closes down as it's just a waste. I will never eat or buy from there again.

Rude should be the name of the...

Oh well, what can I say. What a place! Such a little gem. We visited Knowle on our way home from a national trust house. Feeling pretty peckish we found this little gem. The huge meringues in the window drew us in and then we realised there was a restaurant at the back. We were quickly approached and seated. Our waitress was lovely. After struggling to decide which course to choose (the menu offers so many delicious options)I went for the aubergine parmigiana. OH MY GOODNESS. This has to be one of the best meals I’ve eaten in my life. So simple and served with delicious bread, it was divine and so flavoursome. My partners lasagne was gorgeous too. Hats off to the chef! The cakes and treats in the shop were beautiful too. Such an authentic place, with a lovely vibe and feel. Very busy so a popular haunt I think! We may have taken dessert away with us! Thanks for a memorable visit.

The best bakery experience in the Midlands. All I expect from a good bakery is quality sourdough bread. Bread collection takes this expectation and sets the bar sky high. There is a front of house! She is young, vibrant, with a great sense of humour. Her and her colleague assisted me in finding the perfect loaf. It was made all the more difficult thanks to the fantastic range. Bread Collection also has a great pastry selection. Beautiful cakes. Deli goods imported from France and Italy. It is a splendid cafe, delivering modern, finely prepared brunch options.

This has always been a great little place known for the quality of it pastries and quality of it's bread. Came in today and sampled the new breakfast/brunch menu. Absolutely delicious, especially the Tuna and Avocado Sourdough Toast. Bursting with fresh food quality ingredients and a very decent portion size. Staff were as friendly and professional as ever. Great little place that deserves it's reputation and local support
