I always ask for a black Americano and I have never been disappointed with the quality of the coffee. The service is excellent. Orders are placed at the counter and then brought to the table by the friendly staff. I find the range of cakes a little disappointing especially as cinnamon buns are no longer available. The crockery is very attractive. I quite like the somewhat rustic wooden tables but the seats do not encourage protracted stays. I suppose this is acceptable given that the building is part of the railway station. The cafe is popular and the long narrow room can become congested. There are seats outside and there is the option of sitting on the platform if using takeaway cups. The station has a carpark but that is often busy. I was immediately rudely told off by the barista lady for coming in the ‘wrong way’ despite the fact that (from the platform) there is no access whatsoever - nor any sign telling you that. I was grudgingly given a coffee (£2.50!! in a polystyrene!!! cup) and then told I couldn’t even pay in cash. This must be the last cafe in England that insists on Visa card payments.
