Miller & Carter Solihull — Restaurant in Metropolitan Borough of Solihull

We have been visiting M&C for years, but this will be our last visit. The alcohol policy seems ridiculous; there is not a single sign indicating their company policy. The Licensing Act 2003 clearly states (the only exception is that 16- and 17-year-olds may drink beer, wine, or cider with a table meal in relevant premises, when accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over). Miller and Carter denies this as a company policy. Clearly, there are no signs of such a policy, neither while entering the restaurant nor while booking a table. As a company, if you wish not to comply with the Licensing Act 2003, signage should be visible to customers. Two or three signs for dress code and the Licensing Act 2003 are posted before entering, but clearly, no signs for the company's alcohol policy. Food was extremely poor today from finding blue roll in one of the salads and 3 out 5 steaks were served with wrong cooking temperatures. Today we went to celebrate my brothers birthday. 16 people. Table had been booked a while. Thinking we would all be on the same table, we weren't. Two tables in an L shape separated from.one another. We then tried to move them closer together, only to be directed to move them back as the server wouldn't be able to get round As it was he couldn't anyway because we all had to sit down. Drinks came swiftly, meals were ordered and then it felt like two different tables were being served One table received their starters and the other nothing for 10 mins. On enquiring, I was informed it was coming. By the times ours came,the others had finished. Then the same happened with the mains. It's a big group which we understand, but no apologise on the delay or update about what was going on We spent a lot ! Of money today and our server felt rude and detached. We had more information from the gentleman helping bring some of the plates. Fortunately my brother didn't notice and we enjoyed his celebration whilst playing musical chairs in between sittings. This is the second time I've been to this particular venue and it's the second time we have experienced a problem. Unfortunately, this time wasn't handled as well as last time. Valentine's evening, I had the pleasure of dining at Miller and Carter Solihull, and it was nothing short of a fantastic evening. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with soft lighting and elegant decor that set the perfect tone for the evening. The staff was attentive and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcomed and well-cared-for throughout the night.

We started with the XO King Prawn, which was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. It was the perfect balance of textures, leaving us excited for what was to come. For the main course, I opted for the Pan Lamb dish, and it did not disappoint. Cooked to perfection, each bite was a delightful symphony of taste, showcasing the chef’s remarkable skill and creativity. My dining companion chose the Sirloin steak, which was equally impressive and beautifully plated.

To finish off the evening, we shared the mango pavlova, which was both decadent and delicately balanced—not overly sweet, just the right ending to a memorable meal. The wine selection was also noteworthy, with a range of choices that complemented the dishes perfectly.
