First impressions were a little average. Dirty, shabby furniture and fairly empty. We made an order of drinks which was actually a reasonable price. After sitting down for a while we decided to get the food order in. We placed an order of popadoms, starters and mains. This order was put through at 7:15 PM. The popadoms took 40-45 minutes to arrive and we were told âsorry we canât give you any plates as we donât have any washedâ - we begrudgingly started eating the popadoms with bits dropping everywhere due to them crumbling upon touch and shared small pots of sauce and onion between four. My partner went to the bar to get more drinks and was told by the barmaid that she wishes she could just hang up her apron and walk out. Roll on to 8:35 after asking where the food was and being told to ask the kitchen directly I brought up the fact that people had ordered after us and received all their food before we even had our starters to the staff but was told âweâre following the ticket order itâll be soonâ. The starters arrived about ten minutes after asking and at this point as they were delivered we asked if we could have the mains ASAP. The âchicken pakoraâ looked odd to the point where even the server asked âerm? Onion bahjie? Or is is pakoraâ - they were greasy and containing almost no chicken.
I watched as three mix grills were put in to the serving hatch with no steam coming off them. I then watched as the kitchen staff proceeded to pour either water or oil over then from a squirty bottle so steam was produced on the hot plate. Mains finally arrived at 9:05PM and it was these exact mix grills. I took one bite of the lamb shish kebab and it was stone cold. I checked with my table and they had similar food. It was. The server checked back with us and asked how the food was, when i informed her it was cold she said âI can see it steaming thoughâ I was mid way from saying I watched what they did to make it steam and she walked off half way through rolling her eyes. Gave up eating, asked for a takeaway bag and just heated it up at home. Was a real shame as the food was actually really nice and enjoyable. Ruined by the fact that the place is heavily short staffed. One person can not serve an entire restaurant on her own and one person can not run the bar on her own.    Read moreEaten here lots of times and the food has always been brilliant! Tonight we came after pre booking a table for 6.30pm, we got there and the place was absolutely rammed. No social distancing whatsoever. There were only a couple of empty tables when we arrived so I asked a waitress about our reservation and to say she was rude was an understatement. She said I need to ask at the bar, which had a queue of around 10 people waiting to order. We had no choice but to stand in the queue just to ask about the table that we had reserved. The queue for the bar also had to go over the entrance to the room meaning people had to walk through the queue to get in, again absolutely no social distancing. As we queued for a good 30 minutes to be served we over heard the waitress saying it would be an hour and a half wait for food. If I hadn't already had my drinks poured waiting to pay I would have left there and then. We sat at a table in the corner which was covered in empty plates and rubbish from the last customers, none of which anyone made an attempt to come and clear even though there were 7 of us sitting at the table. The table was dirty and with Covid I'm sure cleaning should be a top priority. It was an absolute shambles. They said all tables taken were bookings only. So they let it get to that state with no staff on knowing how busy they were and allowing way too many people in there. We quickly finished our drinks and left to go somewhere else. We've been here many times before but I don't plan on going back there...

The back room holds approximately 40 people comfortably so itâs perfect t for those smaller personal gatherings. The venue is fairly local to me so I have got to know them all at Rumours very well. The staff are all so accommodating, they bend over backwards to help you in every way possible. I have to say, the feedback I have received to date from my clients is outstanding. They are super happy with their experience at Rumours......! Aside from this, from a personal point of view, the food is fab, Dan who runs the bar is so professional, totally knows what heâs doing, Georgia, Donna and the rest of the staff are brilliant too, so friendly and welcoming. Finally, The Chefs needs acknowledgement 100% , they are clearly very experienced and present exceptional food. Highly recommend this place...give it a go, you wonât be...
