1st time coming since its changed over and it will be the last time too. The whole experience from start to finish was absolutely shocking and disgusting. Spent over 5 mins waiting at bar to be served as no one was there. When lady finally came back there was no sorry to have kept you waiting or anything. Poor customer service. My friend and I opted to have the 3 course meal for £9.99 each plus an extra £2.05 for our drink of Pepsi (which was flat) It took a little over 15 mins for starters to arrive and it looked shockingly crap and poorly presented. A little salad garnish goes a long way you know. I had the beer battered salt and pepper mushrooms and my friend had the Southern Fried chicken. Food was warm but edible although mushrooms tasted of just that....no flavour . Moved on to the carvery to stand around waiting again for staff to come. Told couldn't have Turkey as it was still cooking. Seriously ....it's almost Xmas and no turkey for a Xmas meal ....laughable. We both opted for the dry beef as only other options were Pork and Gammon and both were very fatty. Stuffing was lumpy as per. Peas were dry and the sweetcorn seemed to congeal. Cauliflower was nice though. Gravy was amazing thick and bland. We ate what we could as was extermly hungry. Que the deserts . I'm not a chocolate cake lover but I can eat brownie.... What was presented to us was not chocolate brownie . It was square cake and stuck to roof of mouth and tasted bitter and wasn't helped by the shaving of ice cream and the huge amount of choc sauce. Our meal was less than satisfactory . Customer service was appalling . One final note.....we watched an Xmas party you had in. You had double booked their room yet put a group of senior citizens on far end of restaurant near toilets. In a room with steps that some struggled to get up. Especially a woman in a wheelchair who had to be aided by 2 people. It took a good 20 mins for a member of your staff to go into this group.....no service with a smile or nothing. I was appalled for my own meal but seeing that also left a bitter taste in my mouth..... Avoid avoid avoid .

Firstly, we'd just like to say how accommodating and friendly the staff are here. It's straightforward to book a table, and as we were a large booking we had a lovely side room which was perfect for our end of year gathering with the kids. Secondly, we chose this location as we had a Groupon deal and thought it was great value for the different areas we were travelling from. As with many Groupons - there was a lot that wasn't explained/clear until we got there and asked. This is bearing in mind whilst booking I mentioned on 2 different occasions we had Groupons, when we arrived we mentioned we had Groupons and we went up to the bar a fair few times to ask how it would work. (Not sure if this should go on a Google review but on the Groupon advert it said the deal was valid for "the menu" - this is not true - it's a limited part of the menu that you only find out about once you are there). After getting past the workings we then went up to order, and only at this point were we then informed of what was available or not when we had chosen our dishes and up at the bar ready to finally order. So a couple of the group had to find something else to order as some things were not available. Once the food arrived/collected, although it was edible, I'm not sure how freshly made the meats, stuffing and veg was from the carvery? Possibly from the day before?? It did taste ok, but I'm not sure this would be somewhere we'd come back to in a rush. (Really want to give the team here the benefit of the doubt, and based on other reviews I think the carvery could be amazing... it's all about the timing of when you get to enjoy their carvery i.e. Sundays/evenings?) Puddings were great, again the order was a bit mish mash and we had to keep reminding what was ordered. I wanted to like our time here as we could see the staff were doing their best and were so patient with our big group but our experience with ordering and the freshness of food wasn't quite what we expected. We do thank you for the service provided for our afternoon together.

very nice place. housed in the old Sheldon hall a historical home. good wheelchair access and ample parking. nice outdoor seating. in side the the restaurant and part is houses in the old library. You can still see the beams from he original house. There is also a cosy bar area. The toilet area is clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. it's a carvery and pizza place. The food is lovely and they don't skimp on the meat like some places. The puddings are nice as well. choice of sauces and gravy. clean. A place worth going to. we housed a dog show there 17th October 2021. We had the grounds for free they sold raffle tickets gave us a donation for the charity gift card bottle of wine and collection boxes. The staff were wonderful. Cant thank them enough the show was for the Eden suite at Heartland hospital Birmingham. where my sleeping Granddaughter Ruby was born. we raised £806.51. The venue was idilic and so accommodating. The food was really good even though they were so busy. A big thank you to kris Sarah and Rowland for all the help. would recommend the place. great place staff friendly and the food is really good..would recommend this place

I have never had such a BAD experience in a bar in my life!!! Me and my family have been regular customers to the Sheldon hall since I was a child. Last night my self and another female went to the Sheldon hall to enjoy our self's, our night was completely ruined when we realised a female staff member that was on shift last night had locked the car park gate. This left us unable to get our car off the premises. The staff member that locked the gate was notified that we were unable to leave and wasn't co-operative at all, she said she shouted that she was locking the gate but we were in the car so we didn't hear her, all she needed to do was knock on the window of the car and make us aware that the gate is being locked. She failed to do this which led to me banging on the doors, flashing lights at windows and using the cars horn to get the attention of the people in the living quarters above the bar. It was pitch black in the middle of the night and we had been doing this for half an hour. We made enough noise to wake the dead, due to this the staff in the living quarters above the bar were aware that we were in the car park and no one came to help us (we could see them walking around upstairs). Two females locked in a pitch black car park in the middle of the night staff fully aware of this and no one helped us. As we couldn't get any help we had to walk home in the middle of the night which took us an hour. The other female I was with had a meeting the next day which she was late to as she didn't have a car to get there. Earlier that night there was also a disabled man in a wheelchair that was unable to leave the premises as the gate was locked and there is no foot path to enter or exit the property (There is only the road to walk up). Due to this 3 male customers had to lift the man's wheel chair up the curb walk over the grass and put the wheel chair down on the other side of the gate on the tarmac. The staff were also aware of the wheel chair users presence as they had been serving him all night. If the wheel chair user was the last one out he would have been stuck in the car park all night and anything could have happened. I am absolutely disgusted with the way we were treated I don't know how the staff could sleep at night knowing what they have done. I couldn't sleep as I was worried about the car that we had no choice but to leave in a dark car park. Public safety is unfortunately not on the staff's list of priorities. We don't recommend you go here if you value your own safety. We phoned the manager in the morning and he was excuse after excuse but there is not enough excuses in the world to justify what myself and other customers experienced last night. As regular customers we can't put into words how disappointed and let down we feel. I work in a bar myself and I couldn't do what they have done. The staff involved should be ashamed...
