Please avoid at all costs!!!

Recently booked in for Saturday lunch and had to cancel the booking on Saturday morning at 8.45am due to my wife being ill.

Tried to call the restraunt 10 + times on the Saturday morning to advise that we needed to cancel but no answer. Only option thereafter was to cancel via the online booking that had been made. Despite doing this and giving over 3 hours notice we were still charged £70!

We only realised this when my wife looked at her card statement the following week. I called the restraunt to explain the extenuating circumstances in that my wife was ill due to a medical condition that she has. Accounts lady wasn't interested in this and her response to this was that bookings need to be cancelled with 24 hours notice. Who knows that they are going to be ill in 24 hours time?!?!? Clearly the Accounts lady must have a crystal ball that no one else has access to.

Overall very disappointing from the restraunt and simply not reasonable to apply a £70 charge when we were forced to cancel due to illness.

As previous reviews have said the Accounts lady (I will remain professional and call her this) has an appalling attitude and simply states it is company policy to charge for cancellations. Where on earth is the compassion?!? Very bad press to charge a cancellation fee to someone that has had to cancel due to being ill from a medical condition that they have.

We were very much looking forward to trying this restraunt but will be avoiding now. Additionally will be warning friends, family and colleagues of this restraunts awful policy so that they don't get caught out also!.

Feel this business is more concerned with taking money anyway they possibly can rather than providing a professional service.

If I could rate it as...

I really want this place to work, I use all aspects outside, cafe and restaurant. The bar outside the queuing for drinks is a bit long no table service even after ordered drinks gives it a festival vibe but lots of waiting around for Ā£9 drinks. We then went to restaurant and unfortunately experience was not ideal it took us 1.45mins to finish two courses our meal took 1.30 to come out. I nearly walked out. They blamed the kitchen but in reality the food we ordered was all the things that take hours so I don’t think it was the chef, I personally think the new waiter forgot to put the order in. We seen people come in after us and finish two courses before we had even been given our main. No one came in between to ask if we want drinks, no one took away wine menu. It was so quiet 15 people max in restaurant and two service staff so if two people can’t serve 15people they are not trained adequately enough. They took some money off bill to compensate but ultimately it’s Ā£105 for two courses and drinks and people expect more. Food is delicious so I’m sure owners are gutted when service staff let them down with lack of attention to detail and customer service. For another Ā£100 you can go Michelin star restaurant so I personally feel they need to be more consistent with service. We are their target customers we are decent earners who will be back time and time again if they get these things right and I want them to so bad!

The week before I took my nan to the cafe and the chocolate eclairs was frozen and inedible, when I told the service staff they just repeated what I said in confusion and didn’t acknowledge that this isn’t good enough.

Lovely venue but maybe they have done to much to soon without consistent quality in...

I had my wedding reception here in June, the food everyone complimented and the scenery, however, I would not suggest have a wedding reception here. The tepee was disgustingly hot, there was no air flow, no air con, they provided no fans or anyway of cooling the tent. It meant that sitting down for our meal was unbearable and people could not wait to get back out of the tepee. We spent ages creating decorations and borrowed some from my friend. The agreement was we would arrive the next morning at 9am to take everything down, however, when we arrived, they had ripped everything down and shoved it into boxes. The damaged nearly Ā£200 of decorations and after the so called ā€˜events planner’ lucy told us if there was any problems to let them know, they have refused to accept responsibility or even meet us half way. We had a sweet cart and there were sweets left at the end of the night… not a single sweet made its way back to us. Unfortunately this venue has had now had an impact on how we view our wedding. Lucy the event planner was absent on the day, we didn’t see her once and basically lied to us about contacting them if there was any issues. They’ve stolen from us, damaged personal items, Lost decorations and other personal items and don’t care, so as nice as the food and view is, I would no recommend using this venue at all. The service is...

It’s been a firm favourite since the new menu launched - here’s why: Confit heritage carrots - in season and full of hearty flavours. Smashed butternut squash - rich in vitamins, minerals and fibre, and low in calories. Sage, rainbow chard and handmade carrot reduction provide a perfect blend of antioxidants and flavour. To provide a crunch we add a handmade granola to really lift the textures on your palate. Lovely little farm area, with amazing views to the fields. The restaurant is in a large open space, lovely place for lunch/dinner to catch up with friends. Free restaurant car park outside. We pre-booked for lunch, the day before, which they said they couldn’t accommodate us 3, but could fit 2. So I had my daughter on my lap. We arrived at 12pm, the restaurant was quiet, we were seated and asked what drinks we would like, 30 mins later, we still hadn’t had our drinks, as the restaurant was slowly getting busier. We had to ask the waitress again and placed our order too. The food came quick. We had the Sunday roasts. Sadly my roast pig arrived with hair in, they changed it immediately however declared the hair was from the crackling , and didn’t replace it. The food was ok, nothing amazing, not well flavoured or too exciting. The Yorkshire was tough and overcooked. We had dessert as well, which was small, but nice. Overall it was nice place to meet for lunch, the service was really slow and disappointingly they could see we were struggling with a toddler on my lap. There were plenty of seats still available throughout the time we were there, but they didn’t reseat us. it cost us Ā£35 ea for a Sunday roast dinner, 1 drink and dessert. So it felt overpriced when it wasn’t anything very special. Would come back and try again.
