Fantastic food, we ate so much we practically rolled out of the restaurant. We shared four starters and two mains and surprisingly didn’t have room for pudding! Our stand outs have to be the tempura prawns and pork cheek (both starters) and the loaded potato skins with lentil ragu - but in all honesty we licked every plate clean! We had a bottle of the appassimento and I also had a glass of the English sparkling from the nearby vineyard that I would also recommend. The staff were very friendly and even spent a bit of time talking to us as they cleared up about crocheting (I think her name was Catherine!). One to put on your bucket list for Devon! Sorry for the terrible photos, we just wanted to eat!

Lovely little cafe/restaurant, and a brilliantly modern yet cosy surprise for this quaint village setting! I was fortunate enough to go when they had a special 2-course lunch for £11, and the food was excellent. The quality of ingredients couldn't be faulted and both my starter and main were cooked perfectly. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Only negative was that on our table of 3, one of the seats was facing directly at the wall, though I suspect this was necessitated by COVID-19 saving restrictions. Overall an excellent lunch that left us all stuffed and very happy!

Ive been waiting to have the opportunity to dine here and I am delighted I had time to pop in. I had the hake fish with clams, muscles and prawns. Delicious with a juicy tasty sauce. Menu has lots of choice with vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options too. Delicious sweet menu too, I had the raspberry cheesecake. Cosy and comfortable with well laid tables which invite you in. No loud music just chilled relaxed atmosphere. Wine menu extensive too. A most enjoyable experience.

As always a meal to remember. We dined here on Monday with our two children as we are visiting over the half term holidays. Spelt really is a true gem, from the moment you step in you are made to feel so welcome, a personal hello from Paul the owner and the staff always so friendly, warm and attentive. The food, no matter what you order on the menu is on another level- so fresh and delicious. My children are the pickiest eaters and testament to Spelt, there were clean plates all round! We can't wait to come back again when we next visit. If you are in the area, book in advance, you...

Four of us dined in Spelt on Saturday night and all agreed it was the best meal we have had for a while.

It has a lovely cosy atmosphere with attentive staff.

Everything is freshly cooked, well presented and absolutely delicious! I had Brixham cod and my husband the Rump of Dartmoor Lamb - we would highly recommend both dishes!

The desserts were so nicely presented and complimented the previous two courses - just wish I had taken a photo for this review!

Thank you Spelt for what was a lovely evening and we will definitely be back very soon - we would all highly recommend...
